The holidays are right around the corner and for me, this is the time of year when I really start to fatten up. This year I wanted to get ahead of the curve (literally) and see if someone would pay me to lose weight in January. Let's see if I could actually make money with GymPact.
And I know I’m not the only one that watch my belly get more and more round from that September to January season (at least I hope I’m not).
For some, the problem is lack of exercise. For others, it’s simply overeating. But for most of us, it’s a combination of both (plus the stress of dealing with in-laws).
There is a solution for all of this though: The gym. Simple right? Well no, of course it’s not that simple.
Going to the gym is one the hardest struggles mankind has ever had to endure. Well it's pretty close… You see, despite all the facts we have about exercise helping with everything from weight management to depression, we all still have trouble doing it. Why?
Arguably, some people say it’s because we believe our incentive for going it isn’t enough. Well, now there’s an app for that. GymPact.
How Does it Work?
GymPact promises to pay you for going to the Gym. How exactly does that work? First you download the app, which is available for both Android and iPhone. Once you download it and register your account, you tell GymPact how often you plan on going to the gym. This is called your “Pact”.
You can choose to set your “pact” for any number of days between one day a week, or all seven.
Next, you set your “stakes”.
Your “Stakes” is the amount of money you are willing to pay to GymPact for days when you don’t complete your pact (days you don’t go to the gym).
You will notice this screen allows much higher multiples than the previous screen, $5 to $50. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
Once you have completed all that you will be asked to review your pact and enter your payment information.
The next thing you want to do is set the “My Gym” location. GymPact has not included all gyms in their database yet, but you can add yours if it’s not, and GymPact will try to verify it.
So How Much Money Can You Make?
Not much. GymPact isn’t setup to help you make money going to the gym. It’s setup to cost you money if you don’t go to the gym.
You stand to earn about forty cents per day, if you achieve your goal, which is to follow through and go to the gym as you said you would.
When you sign up you set your “Pact”. You can agree to go to the gym one day of the week, seven days of the week, or any number of days between that.
So let’s say your pact is to go to the gym three times each week. You’ve set your stakes at $5 (the lowest amount allowed).
If you go to the gym two of the days, but don’t go on the third day, you’re out $5. Well, actually you would get about forty cents for the two days you did go, so technically you would only be out $4.20.
GymPact is not a Money Making Plan. It was designed for people who need an extra push to get them motivated.
The creators of GymPact know the best way to get someone to something is to charge them when they don’t.
If you set your pact for seven days, you can take advantage of the daily pool seven days a week. That means you stand to earn about $2.80 per week.
At best, this might help you cover some of the costs of your gym membership. Beyond that, it’s really not a good plan for making money.
Two More Ways to Earn $$
Recently, GymPact has introduced two new ways to take advantage of the app. Now, instead of just making a pact to go to the gym, you can also make pacts to eat more veggies and to track the other foods you eat.
The idea of course is to promote eating more vegetables, but also to make better, more conscious decisions about all the other things you are eating.
The setup for these two pacts is the same as the original pact: Make a pact, set your stakes and record your progress.
Unfortunately, each successfully completed pact is only worth about 20 cents. (Earn more money with this app)
Best case scenario, you can me $5.60 per week using Gympact at its fullest potential. That’s using all three pacts, 7 days a week, without missing one single day.
And remember, the lowest you can set your stakes is $5. So if you miss just one day that $5.60 immediately becomes a mere 60 cents.
How to Get Paid
To withdraw your funds from GymPact you have to have at least $10 available. When you are ready to make a withdraw you can do it from right inside the app. Just go to the settings and “withdraw my rewards”.
To get paid by GymPact you must have a PayPal account connected to your profile.
PayPal is free to sign up for and it’s pretty much THE way to get paid online. You will find that no matter what you do online, if you want to collect money, PayPal is a must.
However, you may have to pay fees to get your money from GymPact.
PayPal charges a fee for any money that is not sent to you by a friend or family member as a gift. I make money online through my websites, and sometimes Paypal charges a good chunk of money to deliver my payment. Sometimes that's not the case, and it may depend on where you live.
GymPact is setup to make money from those who do not follow through on their pact. You stand to lose more money in one day than you could gain in a week. It’s a fun idea, and it’s something worth looking into if you need some real motivation to get out of the house and go to the gym.
As far as making you any money though, it’s about as unrealistic as you can get.
If you want to make real money by going to the gym and getting in shape, you would be better off starting a website about losing weight and sharing your results. Fitness is a huge industry with plenty of room for new entrepreneurs like yourself to come in and make money just by showing folks what you do and how you do it.
New fitness gurus are constantly bursting onto the internet scene and it’s not like they have invented some new way of doing things. They just share what they are doing.
