If you have a talent for graphics and/or design, and are also relatively computer savvy, then there is a chance that you can make some pretty decent money on Fiverr.com! I’ve done some research, and found out that this seems to be one of the more lucrative fields on the famous freelancing platform… but can you really make money designing logos on Fiverr.com?
Are You Ready To Work Your Ass Off to Earn Your Lifestyle?
Are you tired of the daily grind? With a laptop and an internet connection I built a small website to generate income, and my life completely changed. Let me show you exactly how I’ve been doing it for more than 13 years.
Let’s talk about it!
Making Money Designing Logos on Fiverr.com
Fiverr.com is far from the only way that you can sell logos online. In fact, we’ve covered some other angles in a different post. However, we’re focusing on Fiverr.com here, as the platform has some interesting advantages.
What Exactly Is Fiverr.com?
If you’ve never checked out Fiverr.com, I would absolutely recommend that you do so! Fiverr.com achieved initial popularity as a freelancing platform that allowed pretty much anyone to sell basically any service for $5. Categories include options like graphics and design, digital marketing, writing and translation, video and animation, music and audio, programming and tech, business, and even fun and lifestyle.
There are literally thousands of things to choose from… but the greatest thing about it is that pretty much anyone can list their services on it… and you don’t even have to keep charging only $5 if what you are doing is worth a lot more than that.
I have been putting some pretty serious thought into Fiverr.com recently, because it actually presents a perfect opportunity for freelancers. It may not be an ‘end all’ opportunity for every freelancer at every level, but it is the perfect option for someone interested in starting out or making a bit of extra cash in smaller increments.
But with that being said, Graphics and Design-type work seem especially popular on the site… which is what got me to thinking.
This may be the perfect place for someone with graphics experience to make some extra money. And one niche that seems to be in high-demand is logo design.
With more and more people starting small businesses, side-hustles, and other ventures, logos have never been in higher demand. Everyone needs a logo! But, the thing about a logo is that it is usually pretty specific to the company.
So a lot of people would rather have something designed than to just buy a stock graphic. Also, a lot of people are good at coming up with general ideas for their logo—but few people possess the skills, talents, or even computer equipment necessary to create and generate a final product.
It is actually really important that logos nowadays are delivered as high-quality digital graphics. Vector graphics are even better and are quickly becoming the new standard. But a lot of people don’t know how to get their sketches and ideas all the way to this point—so that is another thing that a logo designer can help with.
If you have the knowledge, know-how, and equipment, then you could easily make extra money designing and delivering digital logos for people!
How Much Can You Earn Designing Logos On Fiverr.com?
This all depends on a few different things.
- How much work you can get
- How often you are willing to work
- How good you are at providing a good experience for your customers
- How good your feedback and reputation is on Fiverr
Obviously, if you work hard at this, design your profile well, and do a really good job of showcasing your work and looking professional, then you will be much more likely to get business than people who just ‘throw something up there.’
But exactly how much can you expect to make?
There are people who only sell their services once or twice, and then give up. Then again, there is an entire Forbes.com list of people who earn six-figures on this popular low-end freelancing site!
Yes, Fiverr.com may have made its mark as a site where you can get something cool for $5… but the truth is that it is an expansive platform that gives you the opportunity to make a LOT of extra money! Of course, you need to be able to generate the right kind of traffic and attention. But if you can do it right, there is really no ceiling to what you can earn.
Also, keep in mind that logo design is not the only way to make big bucks on Fiverr. You can also make awesome money on Fiverr.com doing a number of other things (eBook cover design is another interesting area to consider).
At the end of the day, making money on this site relies on three basic things.
- Offering something that there is a demand for
- Designing a profile that will draw in customers
- Doing a good job and offering a lot of value, which will bring you repeat business and better feedback
- Offering upsells and premium services that you can charge more than $5 for
Does Fiverr.com Cost Anything?
In the FAQ section, they say that all purchases are subject to a service fee of $2 on purchases up to, and including, $40. They also charge a 5% fee on purchases above $40. For sellers, they take about $1 out of every $5 order you sell. That is a 20% fee. Yes, that is kind of high… but also, keep in mind that this is for small orders.
Some people say that this makes Fiverr.com a bad format for creators and freelancers, but I disagree. I do feel that the fees are a bit excessive, but I also feel like Fiverr.com is offering a lot for the money.
They administrate payments from clients, give you the ability to cash out, give you a platform where a decent portion of the marketing is done for you by offering you a place on their online storefront, etc.
So yeah. All things considered, I do not see this as a bad side-hustle idea. ==> Sign Up To Start Selling On Fiverr
What About Non-Monetary Costs?
There are a few non-monetary costs associated with Fiverr.com. Firstly, you have to set up your profile and get it looking nice. This might involve shooting a small video, taking some pictures of yourself and your work, and writing some content for your profile.
You will also need to spend some time responding to potential clients through messenger. This may or may not lead to more jobs—but there is the possibility that it will. This is just another aspect of the platform, though. Some potential clients will have questions before they hand over the cash.
But for the most part, these seem to be the only non-monetary costs associated with Fiverr.com.
Equipment And Other Requirements
You will need to have enough gear to get the job done if you want to earn a decent wage on Fiverr designing logos. You will also need to have professional-level skills. If you already have an understanding of what it takes to design logos, you might want to brush up on it a bit and design some sample logos for your profile.
Remember to do your best to put out your best work here—but also be ready to keep this updated as you learn more about how to create better graphics and images.
Logo design, like any other type of design, is something that you get better at as you do it. So just continue to learn and get better, and you will find yourself growing and evolving in ways that will help you to command better success and a higher conversion rate with clients.
Logo design is definitely an art form, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be a business, either. You just have to balance these two ideas to make this side-hustle a success.
Other Ways To Earn On Fiverr
If logos aren’t your thing, there are many other design related categories you could make money with. Creating cartoon avatars in various styles is popular.
You could also pick up random design work, for example I had a person re-create some company logos for affiliate companies I was working with. They didn’t have logos in the size or style I wanted, so I just had a person on Fiverr tweak them for me for a couple bucks. Easy!
Plus, you could become a Fiverr affiliate, meaning you don’t have to do any “work” other than to pick good products to promote on your website. That would require a website with traffic, which you can learn how to build here.
My Personal Feelings About Designing Logos On Fiverr.com
This is not the specific type of side-hustle that I would consider taking part in, mostly because I am not much of a design person. I can write and am a little talented musically, but graphics is where I start to really suffer. The truth is that it takes a certain amount of talent and skill to make this one work, so keep practicing if you want to make design a side-hustle job for yourself.
If you are not a designer, graphic artist, or illustrator in any kind of capacity, then this may not be the best side-hustle idea for you. But… for those among you who would love to turn your art into some extra cash, Fiverr.com is absolutely one of the best places to do it.
I actually really like Fiverr.com. I have never actually used it to earn extra cash, but I would… and have actually been looking into it a lot more as of late. That is when I realized how many people are paying for logo design!
It just really stuck out as a lucrative idea for a service that a lot of people would need, and the numbers on the website confirm that this is the case. I have even paid for logos and designs from freelance artists, so I can absolutely see the need for this kind of work.
Just remember that you get out of things what you put into them. If you want to make money on any site, including Fiverr.com, you have to put effort into it. This may include keeping your profile fresh and up-to-date, marketing yourself, working on your own craft to increase the value you can offer customers.
This person has made over $5,000 on Fiverr so far, and you can too! You may not get rich on Fiverr.com, but there is certainly some side-hustle cash to be made here if you can manage to get some positive feedback going!
