Do I Recommend Valentus?
Valentus overhypes its products and its compensation plan, yet neither area is actually exciting. Instead, members would struggle to make sales, let alone grow a team. While you can theoretically make money with Valentus, I don’t think it’s the best opportunity out there. Personally, I make money by recommending affiliate products, which means I can pick my own products to recommend, and don’t have to build a team of sellers.

What Products Does Valentus Sell?
Valentus is all about energy and weight loss, which is reflected in their product selection and marketing.
The various products on offer are all designed to boost health and many take advantage of popular concepts, like detoxing and antioxidants. For example, one of their options is Prevail Breakthrough. This is a detox product with two individual components that are taken morning and evening for 12 days.
Like most detox products, this is meant to help with weight loss and overall health. Whether or not it does so is a different story.
Another product is SlimROAST. This is meant to be weight loss coffee and contains chromium polynicotinate along with various herbal ingredients, such as green coffee bean extract (which has been debunked for weight loss). The marketing for the coffee makes it sound amazing, although it’s less clear whether the product actually works.
All the products that Valentus offers follow a similar pattern. This includes a large amount of hype and marketing about how amazing the products are but almost no evidence to show that they work. Reviews are also mixed. For example, on Amazon, most people find that the SlimROAST coffee is expensive and doesn’t do anything for weight loss at all.
Personally, the products are a key reason that I would avoid this company entirely. There is little indication that they are effective and this is a serious issue if you’re trying to make money.
There are also many other places selling similar products. This includes direct sales companies, independent business owners, health food stores, and even grocery stores. As a result, many people are already sick of all the marketing and won’t believe that these products are any different.
The overall style is also risky for making money. Basically, you’ve got products that either work or they don’t. If somebody buys them and sees no effects, you’ve probably lost a customer for good. That’s true even if their expectations were unrealistic or if they were using the product incorrectly.
For this reason, it’s typically better to promote products where people are buying the item for its own sake, rather than for a specific outcome. Options like jewelry, homewares, or clothing are all examples of this. Doing so provides a more predictable and sustainable income opportunity, one that is less likely to be influenced by shifts in customer behavior.
Is Valentus A Good Business Opportunity?
Like many other companies, Valentus promotes itself as being an amazing opportunity. People buy millions of pounds of coffee each year, so I would assume there’s some kind of business opportunity with coffee regardless of which program or brand you work with. In fact, they claim to have the ‘ultimate compensation plan’ with an ‘unparalleled’ structure. This includes offering ‘7 Power Bonuses’, which are as follows:
The first of these isn’t even a bonus, it’s just the standard way that you earn money with referral marketing. So, you’re getting a 25% commission on every sale you make. That’s not horrible but it isn’t amazing either. For that matter, I would consider that to be about the average and some companies do have higher commission rates.
All of the actual bonuses highlight one general theme, team building. This general idea is the same across all MLMs and means that you have to focus on selling the product and on recruiting other people to do the same.
The various bonuses are then tied into the way the team is structured and its success. In general, the larger your team is and the more sales it makes – the greater your income potential. Likewise, larger and more successful teams are eligible for more bonuses.
The catch is that you have to make considerable progress to see most of the bonuses. Building a team is possible, sure. But, it’s also tough. After all, you have to convince your friends and/or family to invest in a company and then put in the time and effort to make the sales.
Many people simply won’t be interested and some of those that are won’t be able to get involved or simply won’t be any good at selling. To make matters worse, the products from Valentus really aren’t that great. So, you’re at a disadvantage in that area.
The challenge of the task is easy to see when you look at the various ranks that Valentus offers. The table below shows some of the highest and lowest ranks of the company, along with the various requirements involved.
You don’t have to get to the top ranks to make a decent income. But, you do have to get fairly high up, as this is where the best bonuses and commissions are. Doing so simply isn’t realistic in most situations, especially as you have to have team members at high ranks as well.
Costs And Return
For any business opportunity to be worthwhile, the return has to outweigh the costs. With Valentus, the initial cost is $20 for a website and you also have to buy one of the starter packages, which are below:
The more expensive ones offer greater benefits (in theory) but you can just go with the $59.95 one. All in all, this means it’s roughly $70 to get started with Valentus. That’s not chump change but it isn’t too bad. Many similar companies have $150+ starter kits.
To maintain the chance to earn money, you also need to keep a certain business volume (BV). This is a measure of sales, with one $59.95 box of the product giving you 50 BV, which is what you need every month. That BV can come from customers but if you’re not making sales, you would need to buy it yourself to stay in the game.
This all sounds simple and inexpensive but that’s only true if you want to stay at the most basic level. If you plan to build a team and get all the various bonuses that come with it, you need to have monthly authorship of 100 BV, which ends up being more than $100.
That’s a fairly pricey investment to make each month. It also means that you start to lose money if you have some months where you’re not making many sales. For that matter, some people end up losing money through this type of company, rather than making it.
Actually Making Sales And Recruiting
As you can see, success with Valentus is strongly associated with building a successful team. But, how realistic is this?
In part, the challenge depends on who you are and the social connections you have. Some people are able to convince others to do just about anything and they might also have a large social circle. If that’s the case for you, then the process is easier. In contrast, if you struggle with the idea of talking people into purchasing, then you’d probably find it difficult to achieve too.
Even without the recruitment process, direct marketing is much more challenging than it sounds on paper and many people do find it difficult to achieve. In the case of Valentus, you have an additional disadvantage, the products.
For the most part, the products simply look like gimmicks and are unlikely to meet any of their claims. As a result, you would have to be manipulative and perhaps even lie directly to people to make sales and to recruit. That’s seriously not a good way to run a business.
Personally, one of my first steps is to have a good product. If I’m not promoting something I believe in and am passionate about, then I’m in the wrong business.
MLM VS Affiliate Marketing
Even if the product selection from Valentus was decent, the model itself leaves much to be desired. MLM companies heavily rely on team building, which gives the company itself an advantage, while putting you on the back foot.
The entire approach also means that you have to rely on other people, many of which probably won’t be successful. How can you ever build a sustainable business this way? For that matter, all of your income potentials comes from a single company. So, if they disappear or stop being profitable, you could lose your chance to make money overnight.
A much more realistic approach is the idea of affiliate marketing. Like MLM, affiliate marketing lets you earn commissions by promoting products from other companies. The difference is that you’re doing so online – and there’s no team component to worry about.
Instead, you get to promote whatever products you choose, while developing a business that is much more sustainable. By doing so, you’re also protected against companies shutting down, because you can simply start to sell a different product instead. You can also avoid products that are scammy or have a bad reputation, choosing to promote the best of the best instead.
Affiliate marketing also has much more reach overall because you’re working online. As a result, you can promote products globally, without annoying your friends and family members in the process.

The product selection from Valentus is horrible and their compensation plan is typical of the industry, so the company doesn’t have much going for it. That being said, you could theoretically make money from Valentus if you tried hard enough. Still, there are better options, even among direct marketing companies.
