How much is your opinion really worth? Survey Scout wants you to believe that it’s worth a lot – because companies need to know what you have to say. Your opinion can earn you money that much is true, but the real question is do you earn enough money to make the process worth it?
Are You Ready To Work Your Ass Off to Earn Your Lifestyle?
Are you tired of the daily grind? With a laptop and an internet connection I built a small website to generate income, and my life completely changed. Let me show you exactly how I’ve been doing it for more than 13 years.
The landing page for Survey Scout does look professional, but that doesn’t mean that the site’s approach actually works. I also noticed issues with the site, such as broken images:
This is normally an indication that the site isn’t putting a lot of effort into staying up-to-date. It can also suggest that the site won’t be good with customers, because if they aren’t paying attention to their site, it’s likely that they are cutting other corners as well.
The site also claims to be the ‘oldest paid survey site online’. Now, Survey Scout has been around for quite some time, but I doubt that it is the oldest survey site out there. In fact, the claim seems to have been thrown out there because there is no real way of proving or disproving it.
That claim is also a bit of clever wording, because Survey Scout is a ‘paid survey site’ in that you have to pay to use it. Survey Scout may well be the oldest survey site that you have to pay for simply because most survey sites are free.
There isn’t really any way of telling.
However, it is very important to understand that despite its claims, Survey Scout isn’t that different than any other site that offers surveys.
Paid Membership
Survey sites are really common online and many websites have long, detailed lists on what is out there. I have even reviewed a large number of these types of sites myself. Most of the time these sites offer very similar approaches they are often about the same in how effective they are.
Yet, Survey Scout is one of a few survey sites out there that actually charges you for joining the site. It does this using two separate approaches.
The first is Trial Pay, which involves signing up for an offer. Most of the offers on the site cost or involve signing up for a free trial with your credit card. Free trials often end up being expensive, because if you don’t cancel in time, you have to pay whatever the weekly or monthly fee is.
In promoting this approach, Survey Scout even makes this claim:
That simply isn’t true. Most survey sites out there are completely free. Personally, I’ve only ever come across a handful that charge and they are never any better than their free counterparts.
The site also has links to let you pay the membership fee up-front, which is $34.95.
A Survey Site
Survey Scout is very unclear about what it offers. There are actually two completely separate elements to this site. The first is the aspect that the paid membership is for. This basically gives you a list of all survey sites where you can earn money from, as well as a couple of eBooks.
Honestly, this isn’t worth the money or the time. When companies charge you for lists of survey sites they are often very biased about what sites are and are not included on that list. Additionally, they rarely give any indication about which survey sites are worth pursuing and which are simply a waste of time.
The second part of Survey Scout is the site Survey Scout Research. You get there by clicking a link at the bottom of one of the sales pitches for the paid component of Survey Scout.
Survey Scout Research is promoted as a service of Survey Scout and it is basically a typical survey site. The surveys hosted offer no real indication of how long they take, which is frustrating, although they pay better than average for survey sites.
Nevertheless, this is still something to be very careful about. Normally, the more money that is offered for a survey the long it takes to do. For example, a survey that offers $2 as a reward could well take over half an hour to complete.
Making Money
Survey sites look appealing, but it is actually a very ineffective way of earning money. You earn a little bit of money for each survey you do and the surveys themselves can often take quite some time. Often, this means that you are spending hours just to earn $10.
It’s also an approach that makes you completely reliant on the survey website. So, you have to trust that they will actually pay you when they say they will, that they will credit the surveys you do and that they will have enough surveys for you to do.
All of these areas are things that survey takers often have issues with.
I have learned the hard way that if you want to make money online, you have to do it through your own business. This means taking the time to learn what you are doing and developing something that is going to be successful in the long-term.
This approach can seem hard, because there is more learning and more prep work. Yet, you end up with a business that is going to continue to make you money over time.
