They call it a “premium lifestyle transformation plan”, but realistically speaking, Le-Vel Thrive is an MLM company that sells diet pills, diet shakes, and a nutritional patch.

Short Review

As a very practical person with a skeptical nature, I just don’t buy into most health and wellness products. Most of what this company promises its products do has not been proven by trusted scientific organizations, and results are mostly anecdotal (vary from person to person). A nutritional patch just doesn’t make sense to me, and it’s not something I’d feel comfortable promoting.

With only 3 products and no real assistance in marketing the products to anyone but friends and family, I don’t think this is an opportunity worth getting involved in.

However, because results vary from person to person, I do believe that if you are an enthusiastic sales person and experience good results yourself, you can probably market this stuff pretty well. There are many similar products on the market that do sell well, and although the price is beyond what I would pay for health supplements, some people can afford it.

In a nutshell, the success in Le-Vel Thrive depends on you as a sales person, not on the products delivering results.

Product Breakdown

Just watching the introduction video for Level-Thive Experience, it took only 38 seconds for them to mention the business opportunity available at the company. It’s very clear from the start that this is not a company that focuses on it’s products – instead focusing on recruiting.

This is a big danger sign when it comes to network marketing! If the appeal of joining a company comes from the business opportunity, and not the products, it could be a product-based pyramid scheme (that means the products are just a front to the biz op portion). Whether or not this company fits that description, you’ll have to decide.

3 Main Products Simplified

Ignoring all the advertising spin on what they sell (like calling Le-Vel Thrive’s products ‘premium naturopathic and synergistic formula’), you can basically break down what the sell into 3 main categories. Again, I’m a very practical person, and want to get to the meat of what I’ll be promoting here! Sorry, but “ultra micronized, Premium Lifestyle Mix” (from their website) means nothing to me!

Product #1: Diet Pill AKA stimulant + hunger suppressant + nutritional supplement

Take two pills when you wake up (versions for men + women)

Product #2: Diet Shake AKA meal replacement

Drink your shake 30 minutes after waking up

Product #3: Derma Fusion Technology AKA ‘health patch’

Unclear what this actually does or contains. Supposed to help you lose weight, increase mental clarity, control appetite, etc etc.

That’s pretty much it. Unless you believe in this specific formula, you could basically get the same weight loss results from any other combination of pills and meal replacements out there.

If you get energy from the products, that’s great. Of course, you could probably achieve these same results with a multivitamin or other off-brand supplement rather than the “premium” stuff.

Not That Different From Anything Else

There is a whole lot of hype on the website about the particular formula they have for their shakes, pills, and patch. While it may be true that it’s different than other companies, the general idea of what they are offering is the same. Lose weight by exercising more, eating less, and consuming nutritional supplements.

There are definitely some success stories passed around Thrive communities and Facebook! But what the analytical person in me is screaming is that you could get the exact same results without expensive supplements. The core threads of any weight loss program are:

• eating less
• exercising more
• having a support network
• developing a routine

One concrete benefit from joining Le Vel Thrive is that you now have a support network you might not have had before. Losing weight alone can be very tough because there’s no one to share successes and failures with. I know! I’ve gained and lost weight a few times over the  years, so know how it can be.

I will also add that although the supplements that Thrive offers are quite expensive, taking an appetite suppressant has the added bonus of saving money on whatever snacks and food you might regularly buy elsewhere. This may actually make the cost of purchasing the 8 week Thrive Experience worth it. You may end up spending slightly more, but if you lose weight and feel better, who cares?

Outside Reviews Are Sketchy

The diet plan (excluding the patch) got some OK reviews on Amazon, so I can’t knock this particular plan. Everyone has different opinions, and it’s clear that some people find success with this one. The patch however, when reviewed independently of the plan, got very negative reviews on Amazon, saying it’s pretty much useless. There are some 5 star reviews, but I have a feeling that those are distributors trying to counteract the negative feedback.

In my opinion, the main affect of the Derma Fusion Technology is just as a placebo and part of the “routine” of losing weight. It serves as a reminder, much like tying a string around your finger so you don’t accidentally stuff cake in your mouth from the refrigerator at work.

One last note about losing weight on this stuff is that most people can very easily lose 5 lbs in a day without taking pills. It’s water weight, and ANY diet plan that uses 5 lbs weight loss as a ‘success story’ is not telling you the whole story. I recently lost 10 lbs just by stopping drinking beer. I’ve heard of people losing weight by cutting sugary sodas, or reducing their sodium intake.

There’s a lot of ways to lose weight by investing less money into your diet, rather than more.

Despite my criticism, if you do experience some success with their diet and want to promote these products and share your story, you need an audience! It can be super annoying to have a friend constantly bombard you to buy diet shakes or nutritional pills, so I would not even bother trying to sell to friends and family.

You need to get your business online, and find people that want to buy what you’re selling. As someone that’s run a few websites full time since 2010, it’s amazing to be able to sell products to folks through the internet. You can make sales when you are sleeping, and get products delivered to anyone across the US or even across the globe.

Opportunity Breakdown

Here are some of the details about the business opportunity that Le-Vel offers. Though percentages, ranks, and compensation for achievement levels vary, the basic idea is pretty similar to most MLMs. You get paid for products sold, get paid to recruit, and paid based on what your recruits sell. There are bonuses and incentives along the way if you maintain certain sales volumes, or achieve milestones in a short period of time.

You get paid 12% retail commissions on level 1 recruits, and 3-4% on levels 2-3. This isn’t a whole lot different from affiliate marketing, and is worse in some cases since some affiliate companies pay 50% or more.

Recurring commissions several levels deep is something that attracts a lot of folks to MLM. This is a feature of LVT, but there’s nothing surprising. Thought it looks extremely attractive on paper, most people also forget just how hard it is to achieve those levels. Not only do you have to maintain sales volumes, but you also need a motivated team of people to recruit and makes sales, an the deeper your levels go, the harder it is to find motivated individuals who are going to put in the work needed to succeed.

How much you get paid depends on what rank you hold (there are 6)

• Rank 1-5: Get paid 4% on Levels 1-8 (increase number of levels each rank)
• Rank 6: 8% on levels 1-8

There are fast start bonuses based on affiliates you personally recruit. How much you get paid depends on what they order, and which rank you hold. There are also matching fast start bonuses as well.

Beyond that there are car, vacation, and other bonus incentives.

However, I firmly believe that if you can’t imagine making a decent amount of retail sales, then you shouldn’t get involved in an opportunity. If you don’t believe in the product, then it’s not worth digging deeper into the compensation plan. Achieving success with any company is going to depend 100% on your motivation.

That motivation comes from enthusiasm for the products, so unless you use and stand behind what they are selling, you shouldn’t be recruiting others into the system! Personally, for me, this is the killer for this particular company. I just can’t support the DFT patch. I simply do not believe it provides any real health benefits other than what’s in your head.

Don’t Forget About Cost!

Remember that you and your recruits are going to get on autoship to maintain their 100PV requirement to be an active affiliate while they are getting their network established. That means each month, you’re going to be sinking at least another $100 into this opportunity unless you recruit 2 new members quickly after joining.

This is another red flag. If you are forced to purchase the product in order to sell it, it makes me wonder if there are enough ‘real’ buyers on the market for these supplements to actually compete! What do you think? Is it OK to force affiliates to buy their own products?

I understand that you probably should be using the stuff you sell (as proof that it works), but do you think that Le-Vel Thrive products could survive without the MLM business model? That’s a question you’ll have to answer for yourself.

Aside from product quality, just remember that this is a monthly cost of for doing business, so any money you make from selling goods will not be actual profit until you surpass your monthly autoship costs.

Selling To Friends And Family Can Be Troublesome!

Le-Vel Thrive is pushing hard for you to promote this stuff to friends and family. They mention it several times within the introduction video.

They offer no additional support for how to promote your products online via a website, or if this is even possible to do. This means that most of your sales and recruitment is going to be done on Facebook and in Starbucks with face-to-face sales. Are you the networking type? Do you have a group of people in your life that are open to business opportunities like this and/or want to lose weight?

For a lot of new network marketers, this is the biggest challenge! Not everyone is open to network marketing, or maybe they just don’t have time. The people closes to you may not have the money to invest, or just be suspicious of a type of work they haven’t heard of.

This is why it’s extremely important that you reach out to like-minded people to recruit and sell product to via the internet.

Network Marketing Attack Squad!

Unfortunately, it’s very common in the industry to have overzealous sellers get offended when someone reviews their company or product negatively. As someone that reviews lots of network marketing products and biz ops, I am on the receiving end of these comments sometimes. Not all companies are like this, but it happens in this industry more than others. Here are some example screenshots I got form around the web:

These are both examples of the kind of people you could be working with or representing. This is very common in MLM, where inexperienced distributors browse the internet looking for negative reviews and write long-winded defenses of how their product is totally not a scam and people that criticize it are either working for the competition or misinformed.

Without a proper sales plan, that might even be you. Of course, not everyone is like this, but because a lot of newbies struggle to sell and recruit, then spend their time doing fruitless activities like trolling the internet to see what other people are saying.

You success heavily depends on who your sponsor is, and whether or not they can mentor you properly. In addition to having a proper business mentorship, making money depends on how hard your downline works! Getting a multi-level downline that’s working hard to make sales for you is no easy task.

My personal opinion MLM companies selling health and wellness products are a dime a dozen. Most have no real science behind their products and use invented language like “naturopathic synergy” to get consumers to buy stuff that doesn’t really work. Using a patch to lose weight is a silly idea, and will only have placebo effects. The diet plan itself is nothing special, so personally, this is not a product I would want to sell.

However, if you think that this is a good product, or you still want to promote healthy & wellness products with network marketing you need a way to market your products outside friends and family. The internet is the best place to do this so you can reach people that are interested in what you have to say. You can start a health and wellness website (I can help you!) for relatively cheap, and use it to promote products from several companies, giving 100% honest reviews based on your own experiences.

You can also use this website to write information articles, and communicate with potential clients before they buy! Real connection with people from around the globe is a great way to get your business rolling in the right direction.
