Empower Network Review

Product Name: Empower Network
Product Owner: David Wood & David Sharpe
Advertised Price: $25/month
Upsells: $19.99/month, $100/month, $500, $1,000, $3500
Rating: 0/100

Update 2019: Dave Sharp, one of the founders of Empower Network, is now running a new product called Legendary Marketer. From other reviews, it seems to be a more “legit” venture, with actual training, but the cost is pretty freakin’ sky high, and based on his previous affiliation with this garbage product Empower Network, it’s not something I recommend you invest your money in.

Are You Ready To Work Your Ass Off to Earn Your Lifestyle?

Are you tired of the daily grind? With a laptop and an internet connection I built a small website to generate income, and my life completely changed. Let me show you exactly how I’ve been doing it for more than 13 years.

Join Now

Oh yeah, remember when Dave charged you ten grand then shut down the company? Yeah. That’s the same guy. Now you want to give him more money because he “went legit”? No way man.

Update 2017: Empower Network has shut down officially, and now the ex owner is asking people to join his new program. It took 4 years to come to fruition, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

UPDATE 2015: Notice that all “Ex” Top 1% Empower Network have now jumped ship. This is very common in MLMs where people ride the wave of euphoria while everyone signs up, then exits the room before the thing collapses.

What is EN?

Make money by blogging on their network and referring other people to join Empower Network.

Short Review:

Blogging is just a facade for their MLM/network marketing/pyramid scheme, and this program should be avoided at all costs.

Before You Buy:

There is a lot of hype around Empower Network because they give “100% commissions”, and you “make money by blogging”. This is not the whole truth.

The truth is that you make 100% of only some of the commissions, and much of what you earn goes to your upline, ie the people that referred you. After joining, you are then strongly encouraged to ‘go all in’, and ‘upgrade’, which are buzzwords for ‘pay more money’. Remember, in order to make big commissions, you need to actually own the packages.

In typical MLM fashion you pay a minimum fee to enter, and they slowly reveal higher levels of membership that supposedly unlock bigger commissions.

Remember! that to make money with Empower Network, you must refer more people to Empower Network. You are essentially a door to door salesman selling an “amazing” product.

It is an unsustainable business model where eventually, there are more sellers than there are buyers.

Anything Positive?

I’m sure it’s great to be at the top of the pyramid. Too bad there are so many sitting at the bottom.

EN Income Disclosure
Thats  less than 1 chance at $28k per year not month I can think of some MUCH BETTER business models than this

What You Need To Know:

Not only is MLM one of the worst types of programs to make money with because of the extremely low success rate, they are tarnishing the reputation of real internet marketers like myself. Many of their members spam forums and social media networks trying to refer more members to their downline, so I see this EN crap posted all over the place. EN does not provide sufficient training to actually teach you how to promote your blog, drive organic traffic to it via search engines, or sell real products and services.

The #1 Goal of Empower Network Is To Get More People Into Empower Network

Even though their product is a ‘blogging platform’, this is still a pyramid scheme at heart. Remember, you do not OWN the blog that you write for on Empower Network. EN owns it. They can block your access at any time, and have done it to many people (see video below). There are many free or cheap ways to start out online with a blog that you own 100% of.

The #1 thing you need to be looking for is training. Good training and a quality support community will help you get started online. The next thing you need to look at is sustainability. Will you still be doing this in 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?

One more thing you need to know is that if you do not buy their upgrades for hundreds & thousands of dollars, you will never get those commissions from your downline. If you stay with the $25 monthly fee (plus monthly ewallet fee), you can only make that amount from your referrals.

If someone in your downline pays $500 for the Costa Rica Intensive or $3500 for The Master’s Course, you make $0

Is This Program For You?

I get so many comments from people trying to “correct my mistakes” or “clear up confusion”. Whatever your opinion on MLM or EN is, you need to ask yourself, can I afford this? Remove yourself from all the amazing stories of rags to riches, and pictures of people holding big checks and bigger smiles.

Can you afford to risk $5000 or more on a business opportunity that’s receiving so much criticism from legitimate online business owners? Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3 These are real people with real businesses, not just guys that blog about how cool EN is.

So, take a long, hard look at your wallet and think – would you take this money to Vegas? Would you give it to a friend to invest for you or would you put all of it down in the stock market today?  Can you afford to hand it over to “viral blogging system” even though you are not 100% clear how it works?

Update

Empower is still around, though it’s unclear in what form. They ran a few promos with company names in the sales front but eventually led you to EN in the back end, but I don’t see that so much any more. More recently, they launched their so-called “revolutionary” blogging platform Kalatu, but that hit the ground with a thud (as with their previous attempts outlined in that post).

So some folks are still promoting it, but the hype has clearly died off so I’ve renamed this post “Last Year’s Hottest Scam”. I would just like to indulge a bit and take a moment to say “I told you so” to all the commenters below who spent hours and hours hating my opinion which turned out to be right.

Final Review

Thumbs Down

It’s become very clear from the comments that this review makes a lot of folks mad. Let’s make a few things clear so I we can avoid some issues down the road.

  1. I don’t like MLM and you cannot convince me to like it
  2. I review lots of products, not just EN
  3. I promote other, legitimate services on this blog
  4. It is not a secret that Wealthy Affiliate is my #1 rated product
  5. If you are rude, I will not approve your comments

What is One More Cup of Coffee about? Surprisingly, my goal in life is NOT to talk argue about my Empower Network review! I create websites about various topics like software, homebrewing, health & fitness, and traveling. Then I find companies to partner with, and promote their products on my blog. It’s that simple. There is no secret system.

My online businesses are based on my own personal interests.

I do not have a degree in marketing or computer science. When I started, I couldn’t even build a website. I learned everything I know from an online business training center that specializes in teaching newbies how to start their own online business. I’m still a member today, and continue to generate income from many other websites not related to ‘make money online’, including websites about computer software, health & wellness, and others 🙂

Empower Network is a scam don’t follow some one else dreams follow your own dreams MlM is a scam world wide. You will never get rich that way. I am a member of EN and I have not made one brown penny. I will never upgrade to worthless products you can get the same training on Fiver for $5. I am investing in my own dream I am a very powerful man when it comes to thinking I have a $30 Million Dollar a week Formula that no one has that I am putting into my work. I am doing this all on my own not with the help and power of a Scam Network like EN. Nathaniell you are right about EN it is a scam they want you to get all in for what. I have not made any money off $25 what makes you think I am going to invest more money in this scam. I am not going to Denver to sit and enjoy seeing other people with these checks brain washing you that you can do the same if you scam other people in there emails with lies. The money some of these people make are lies Funny How you only see David House and no one else house you have a better chance of making money selling products on Amazon than EN. Do not buy any products you will get nothing before you do buy a product go on a fiverr you can get access to all the products on there. It is not worth the money that tell you and you get no results people stop talking to me when I asked them to sign up to Empower because every one knows it is a scam INVEST IN YOUR SELF NOT SOME ONE ELSE DREAMS BOTTOM LINE YOU WILL NEVER GET RICH THAT WAY.

I like the way you put that – invest in yourself, not someone else. When you buy EN, you are paying for the privilege to promote their products. You can promote thousand of other products for FREE, and products that you don’t have to “convince” people to buy. I hope you are able to find a business model that works for you Mark. Let me know if you need any help.

If I sounded like I was tying to ‘justify my pro-MLM opinions’ I was simply tying to give examples that support my opinions, as have you, and most people commenting. Since I am a believer in the concept and potential benefits of MLM there are lots of comments and reasons you state that I totally disagree with.

You mention how most people, the vast majority, do not succeed MLM or at EN. I find that to be a poor argument (although a common one) because that argument is true with everything. It is certainly true with business. The vast majority of new businesses fail in the first year, and a vast majority of those left, fail in the second or by the 5ht year. The reality is, a large percentage of people who try ANYTHING will fail (quit trying to succeed). Whether they are trying to lose weight, or quit smoking, or start a small business of any kind.

On August 7 you also take issue with, EN adding new products saying, ‘or they will come out with a NEW and BETTER product, that costs you more money.’ But you seem to have no problem with other companies coming out with new and better things to sell you — new versions to generate more income. The newest I-phone , new operating systems, new yogurt, more cookbooks, just rehashed (pun intended). Is Empower Network somehow not entitled to continue to create and offer more, of what they choose to create and offer, to generate more income? (Really, how new can yogurt get?)

You mention long term success. This of course must be considered but is not a true reason not to do something. Blockbuster video stores didn’t enjoy long term success, but that doesn’t invalidate the success they had at the time.

Lastly, a specific paragraph of yours really caught my eye, so I am going to change the context of the conversation and then include your exact comment, as just another way to look at the same thing.

ME: Hey Susie, my friend. I am so excited I just got a new job working for a BIG insurance company. What do you think?
    SUSIE: (August 19)
“Just remember you have to gauge how far down you are on the pyramid. The thing is that we all aren’t going to make a little cash and prosper – just a few people at the top. I would not want to place my financial future in the hands of a something like this.”

    Just my two cents 😀

The only thing I can say is that I am just a person that believes MLM is causing more damage than help to folks that are trying to make a living online. For as many arguments as I can come up with to support my point of view, there’s going to be two times as many ways commenters can nit-pick the words I choose to phrase my ideas. My opinion is not an air-tight argument. It’s not irrefutable evidence that you can’t make money with MLM or that EN is a scam. My goal with this review is to help as many people understand what EN actually is, because they do not make that clear.

My other goal is to help as many people as I can succeed in their goals to make long term, sustainable income through honest means. I’ve made it clear in the review how I think that’s possible. It’s the path I took, and it’s the path I recommend. No amount of rationalizing or analogies are going to change my mind.

I still 100% recommend people stay away from Empower Network, and I still 100% recommend that readers of my blog do not get involved in MLM.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I feel all of your responses are quite fair & NOT hostle (although they think you are) while the ENers are irate and psychotic. The two Davids look like a couple of D bags laughing thier asses off at all these idiots endorcing this drivel. I can’t believe people actually trust these guys and thier erroneously mucky antics. Yikes!

BBBaaaaHAHAHaaaaaaa!!!! Way to show some “BALLS” Nathaniel. This person & pretty much every EN person that makes a statement looks really bad, I mean terrible, I mean what they write is hilariously ignorant. Man, I’m I getting a really awesome chuckle over here! Thank you EN peeps!

Yeah, I don’t know what it is about EN people that makes them so irate and defensive. Hm, maybe this bit about Cult Influence and Persuasion can explain some things. Notice #2 and #3 in the 4 basic types of Cults in the US

      Psychological/Enlightenment — offering expensive “enlightenment” workshops;

      Commercial — including certain pyramid and multi-level marketing organizations;

Regarding your comment on October 28, 2013 “It’s called a comment nest. This is standard for all types of comment moderation where there are several responses. The nest only goes so deep.”
    –
I agree with the commenter that your nesting appears to be only 1 deep. They DO only go so deep, but on my free wordpress blog I can set it to 10. Why don’t you increase yours?

Because it’s unnecessary. Using an @ is perfectly acceptable if you need to clarify who you are speaking to, and when someone submits a 700 word comment, it doesn’t squeeze everything in 200 pixels wide space. Most people don’t properly space their writing either (which you are doing a niche job of BTW), so I end up with walls of text that no one reads. I guess I could increase it, but I don’t see any real benefits without adding a few disadvantages along the way.
