Not all affiliate programs are created equal. Let me tell you what's so great about my favorite affiliate program after three years of working for myself as a full time internet marketer. You certainly don't have to promote this program, but it's a good example of what to look for when you start promoting products and services related to your niche.

1) Large Commissions: 50% commission, $175 per sale
There are some details about their commission rates that I am going to tell you, but I hope it doesn't bore you. I just want you to be clear on what's happening. So there are two levels of affiliation, one is free, and one is paid. The service you will be promoting is $47 per month or $359 per year. With a free membership, you earn $11.25 per month sale and $87.50 for each year sale (25%). With a premium membership, you will earn 50%. That means you now get $22.50 for each month sale, and $175 for each year sale. These are HUGE numbers. Remember that Amazon pays 4% – 6%. I once promoted some toys on Amazon that were about $10 and made 4%. That means I made .40 dollars (40 cents) per sale. Wow. Now that's depressing. I'll take the $175 thank you. I would have to sell 437 toys to make the same amount of money.
2) Recurring Commissions: $22.50 per month
Yes, the commissions are recurring. That means if someone signs up through your link, and stays on for 6 months, you make $135. If they stay for 2 years, you make $350 (or more if they pay monthly) Commissions are always 50%.
*Please know that it does take time to see numbers like this. I hate hype, and don't want to mislead you. These are numbers that real affiliates actually earn, but it can take 6 months – 2 years to start seeing huge payments like these. This will depend on your current marketing skill, and time committed to your promotions.
3) Rewards for Results: See you in Las Vegas!
Actually, I wanted to save this surprise for last because it's a cool one, but sticking with the order from above, I'll just let the cat out of the bag. If you make 300 sales, you get an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas. I'm not kidding. Make 1 sale per day, over the course of a year, and they will pay for your plane ticket, hotel, and a private training conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. I actually went 2 years in a row. 2014 pictures here! 2015 Vegas pics here!
Going to Las Vegas for the conference really is an eye opener. You can chat directly the the owners of the website, and with other affiliates just like you. It's very inspiring to see the direction that WA is going and how much they focus on creating value for members. Plus, it's fun to talk to people who actually understand what you do for a living.
4) Honest, Reliable, and Active Affiliate Managers
The owners of the service you will be promoting are available pretty much every day via live chat, private messaging, Google+, Twitter, email, and a few other contact methods. Needless to say, if you need to get a hold of them, they are available. Not only are they available, but they can provide you with support in many areas. They can make suggestions about how to improve your writing, or where to place images. Need an idea for a blog post, or why people aren't clicking your link?
They are super smart guys who can give you lots of insight. Kyle offered me some insight that doubled my conversions from 2013 to 2014, then again another 30% (so far) in 2015. He makes it look easy!
Ways to Access Your Affiliate Manager

Remember, when you make money, they make money, so they are working to help you make more sales. The owners are honest, reliable, and willing to help. They are some of the best affiliate managers I've had, and they are genuinely interested in seeing you succeed.
5) 70+ Lesson Marketing Training Course + Other Resources
This is where this program excels. This is actually an online business training community (whoops, spoiler alert!), so there is no shortage of training on how to build a website, market it, rank in Google, get better conversions, and a million other topics. Really, this community actually trains people how to make money on the internet, so if you need to know how to make sales, this is the place to learn. There is no other community that even comes close to the quality of online marketing training that's offered here.
Update: They have since made major improvements to the affiliate tracking side of things.
You also get other awesome resources including
- Custom Comparison Charts for creating easy reviews that convert to sales
- Custom signup entrance points for to target customers that want to build a website
- Copy/Paste PPC tracking pixels for Facebook, Google Adwords, and Bing Ads
6) Multiple Niches, Evergreen Niche, Tons of Keywords
This is where I want to tell you more about what this service actually is. As an affiliate marketer, I hope that promoting a quality service is on your list of priorities!
It's called Wealthy Affiliate, and, in a nutshell, they teach people how to start an online business and make money on the internet through legitimate, honest, and effective methods (no pyramid schemes, MLM, spam, or deceptive marketing). The main thing they teach is building a website based on your personal interests. I won't go into all the details here, but you can read more about the specifics of what the program offers on in my review of Wealthy Affiliate.
What's important to know is that this type of service appeals to many types of people, across many niches. Hey, who doesn't want to make money on the internet? Though many “make money” keywords and niches are saturated with get-rich-quick schemers, there are many unsaturated markets, and even some untapped ones. The people you refer to this website learn how to build WordPress blogs about any topic they want, and promote products they choose.
Here are just some of the people you could potential market this program to.
- college kids that don't want to take on student loans
- college kids looking to pay off debt
- people in debt that don't want to take on a second job
- stay at home moms or dads
- the unemployed
- the underemployed
- people that hate their job
- entrepreneurs
- people with disabilities that can't work
- casual bloggers that want to learn to monetize their blog
- local businesses that want market on the internet
- hobbyists looking to make money from their hobbies
- retirees
- people looking for residual income
- travelers
- people who enjoy learning
- people who enjoy social media
- people who enjoy web design
- anyone with a passion for something
And there are many, many more. When I started I made a website about computer software. Now I have a website about beer. The topics are endless, and anyone can profit because the training is targeted towards complete newbies with no internet experience (or some experience but have failed with other programs)
These are just some off of the top of my head. Like I said before, there are tons of people that could potentially be interested in learning how to make more money. “Make money” is obviously too broad. Finding a good niche, a ‘hungry' audience, and being able to market to them in an effective way is going to be up to you. This is where the training comes in. WA actually offers an entire course designed to teach you how to effectively promote their website.
It's a multi-week program. So far there are 7 levels of training with about 5-10 lessons in each module. It takes you from the initial steps of building a website, setting up the infrastructure, choosing keywords, writing content, uploading pictures, video, and creating a full blow campaign including social media. Wow, that's a mouthful. They call it “Bootcamp” for a reason.
Search engine marketing is covered extensively, and there are several lessons dedicated specifically to teach you how to run effective Bing and Google PPC campaigns.
The first phase of the course is free (10 lessons), but Phase 2 and beyond requires a membership. You are not required to take the course to be an affiliate, but the training is there if you need it.
So, let's sum this up.
WA Affiliate Program Positives
- 25% commissions for free members
- 50% commissions for Premium members
- $22.50 or $175 dollar for each sale
- Recurring commissions
- Helpful affiliate managers
- Works for several potential markets
- Evergreen niche
- Extensive training available
- Live chat support for members
- 300 sales = Free trip to Las Vegas
WA Affiliate Program Negatives
- Advanced training requires membership
So there is obviously a lot this affiliate program has going for it, and I think it's obvious why it's a great program to get hooked up with for both beginner, intermediate, and advanced marketers.

Hi Nathaniell
Yes, it helped. I could’ve asked “Wealthy Affiliates” directly, but i figured you’d show up. Hope you had a good vacation.
Nathaniell
Glad to see you came back around to check for my responses! I’m back in town now, and playing catchup with my blog comments and emails. But even when I’m on vacation I stay on top of messages within the WA community because that’s what I promise my referrals.
Mike K
Hey Nathaniell
I posted a couple question of questions about “Wealthy Affiliate” to you in this thread a couple of days ago, But you never approved the comment. My questions turned into 3 posts, and I kept trying to clarify a question. Maybe it was too many, I don’t know. Can you post them up here and answer them, please? It would be appreciated. If they got lost in the moderation que, please let me know and I will post them again. Thank you.

Sorry Mike, I’ve been on vacation and haven’t looked at comments recently. I’ll see if I can find them.

Hi Nathaniell
I joined “Wealthy affiliates” via you, but I never upgraded to a premium membership and haven’t done anything except glance at it. I started taking a “30 days to build your first affiliate marketing website” course about the same time I found you. and decided to give it a try before I got into WA or did anything else.
It’s a good program, and the guy who runs it is a straight shooter. But what’s turning out to be a deal killer, or at least making it very difficult, is having to wait for answers when I have a question,
I have to submit a ticket, and it usually takes about a day before I get an answer. If It’s on the weekends, I have to wait until Monday before hearing from them. The course is good and well laid out, but it is frustrating as hell to have to wait, and sometimes I can’t proceed until I hear from them. Everything comes to a Grinding. Halt.
A couple of questions:
1.
Just to make sure, is there someone ON STAFF or a trustworthy veteran available, (chat would be the fastest way to get an answer it seems) to answer questions at any time? I think you field questions from people who sign up under you, too. I want to make sure I would have access to somebody who knew what they were talking about at most anytime, although you did go into detail in your article above. I’m finding out that this is really important. Asking to make double sure.
2.
Is there like a very basic beginner course, like “build your first website” or “make your first $100” or that type of thing? I have learned some things about keyword research and product research, and my Google skills have improved. But I’m still at the Noob level.
Thank you

Hey Mike, making you wait for me to approve this comment probably didn’t instill any trust in your regarding how fast WA’s system is for getting responses, but I was on vacation lol. WA is much faster.
For getting support, you have 3 options.
1) Live chat. This is with other members, and they usually have an answer for you, especially for newbie questions
2) Classrooms. This is like a forum, but divided into topics. Response rates are from other members, myself, and the owners. Responses take about 5 minutes to a few days depending on who answers. You’ll get a few immediately, but more will trickle in as more people see the question
3) Private message. You can message other members, including myself. I answer my PMs once per day, so response time would be 24 hours or sooner. Other members vary, and are not required to answer their PMs. Just depends on who you message.
And yes, the course is very basic, but does move into more detailed topics as you progress for the lessons. It’s designed for someone that knows nothing, and will turn them into a successful affiliate marketer, so you can jump in the beginning levels without any problem.
Hope that helps!
Shirley
Great information Nathaniell,
Thank you. Are we only able to set up two websites? Can we build more than two passions at a time?
I’m just wondering long term if I would be able to create more than 2 businesses here?
Nathaniell
Two websites is just for the free membership. If you go premium and pay for that membership ($47/month) then you can host up to 25 dot com’s with your membership. You also get 25 free site rubric sub domains domains with that, but you probably want to stick with the dot com’s if you’re going to build a long term business (you have to buy each dot com separately from a registrar)
Tanya
If my niche is cooking and I have affiliates on my site can I also promote WA on that same site or do I need to create another site for that??
Nathaniell
You would need to have a different site for cooking and a different site for “make money online”. One niche per site!
