What Is It?
Vindale Research is a company that claims to pay people to take a variety of different surveys online. They are one of the oldest paid survey sites on the internet.
I've decided to join, and become a member of Vindale Research to determine whether or not it is a viable option for you to make money online.
I have found that there were several things that I both liked and disliked about Vindale Research and their process.
Vindale Research has a long history of complaints. They have more than 30 official complaints with Consumer Affairs alone. They are well-known for being unresponsive to member support tickets. And the payouts they boast so much about, are always inflated.
What I Liked
As soon as I joined Vindale Research, I noticed that the website offers a wide variety of surveys that pay fairly well compared to other popular paid survey websites.
Free to Sign-Up
One of the biggest benefits of Vindale Research is that it is completely free to sign up for. In most cases, I have found that similar sites require up-front payments to become a member -and those do not not always work out as anticipated.
Because they are free to join there is practically no risk to you, if you simply want to know more about them. Anytime a product, training or opportunity offers free entry, or a free trial, that's usually a good sign. At least you can get your feet wet without spending any money.
Detailed Payment Views
After completing surveys, members are able to view their payments with ease from their Vindale Research site account. This area of your account shows a very detailed view of about all payments whether they are done or are currently pending.
This allows you to stay on top of your payments and easily see how much you are earning from each survey. It also allows you to maximize your time.
Unlike other paid survey websites that choose to pay their members in the form of rewards, Vindale Research pays in cash. This completely eliminates the need of having to convert reward points into dollars or having to exchange points for PayPal or check payouts.
By automatically paying in cash, Vindale Research takes out a lot of hassle that other survey sites have.
Payments are easily made to PayPal which means that anyone in the United States, United Kingdom and anywhere else around the world is able to use it if they qualify for the surveys offered.
What I Didn't Like
Along with the pros of Vindale Research, this paid survey website also has some shortcomings that I did not like very much.
While there are some completely free surveys available to take advantage of from Vindale Research, there are also surveys that are known as evaluations.
These types of surveys pay the most, at anywhere from $5 to $75, but require members to buy the products, services or offers for “Trial Periods”. Members will give their opinions on these once the trial is complete.
Many of these products, services and offers involve memberships, which means monthly recurring charges. If you do not remember to cancel these once your trial is over you will be charged again and again.
High Cash-Out Limits
Another con to Vindale Research is that they require a high cash-out limit at $50. Meaning that you are unable to cash out your earnings until you have earned at least $50. They pay monthly, on the 15th, in increments of $50.
That means you will always have leftover funds in your account, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But many surveys only pay one or two dollars. So it's very likely that you will do several surveys each month that you won't get paid for until that accumulation rolls over into the correct amount.
But also, when you're a new member it could potentially take awhile to earn enough to reach the payout level.
The payout numbers that Vindale Research shows to its member's are always inflated. So, when you're thinking of joining, or applying for a particular survey, you can bet that the payout Vindale shows is not going to be correct.
The reason is, as a member you have to pay for the products or services you review. Vindale Research reimburses you but that reimbursement is calculated into your payout.
So if a product costs $20 and the payout is $25 – you're actually only make $5. You might think this isn't a big deal, but you never know the cost of things until after you have applied for it.
And if a survey payout is $10, it might look enticing. But if after you apply and find out the cost for the item to review is $9.50, that payout isn't so enticing anymore.
This certainly isn't a scam, but I find it incredibly deceptive.
Could you really imagine doing something like taking surveys all day long? Of course not. That would be a tedious and boring day, and I'm sure the hours would just crawl by. You might as well be in some cubicle somewhere.
