What Is It?
URL Shotgun is a bit of software that takes your links, and creates a large number of shortened links from various free link shorteners. You then take these URLs, and distribute them across various Twitter, Facebook, and social networking accounts.
If you are still building backlinks, you are shooting yourself in the foot. If you use URL shotgun's methods to build links to your site, you are shooting yourself in the face.
Note: I did not purchase this product. I am not willing to associate my website or any web properties with this type of link building scheme.
What I Liked:
Surprisingly, Anthony Aries explains how URL shotgun works very clearly in the sales page. There was no secret system, or ultra-long sales video to sit though. I pretty much fired it up and showed us how it works in a short video. Great job on advertising guys.
What I Didn't Like:
First off, he talks about ranking a YouTube video in Google within the first 48 hours. I had a good laugh when he said that it was because of a “brand new tool” for ranking YouTube videos. If you know anything about Google and YouTube, you know that it's SUPER easy to rank videos for low competition keywords. Do any search in Google, and a YouTube video will likely pop up.
I plugged his term “best Orlando barber” into my competition analyzer and here's what I came up with:
There are currently less than 10 searches per month and only 30 competing website, with zero competing YouTube videos. Don't believe my data? Here's another one. There was no data for the actual search, so they gave me the closes keyword they could find.
Of course he was able to rank. He could do it with zero backlinks.
About Backlink Building
Backlink building is a worthless practice now. In fact, it's worse that worthless, it can damage your site. If you are still using tools to artificially gain rank through any kind of backlinking campaign you are seriously damaging your site. The repercussions may not hit today, they may not hit tomorrow, but they will come.
I was able to build my traffic to One More Cup of Coffee and rank for a few competitive terms with absolutely zero backlinks built by me. That's right. I do not make backlinks. Sure, some people might link to my site, some of which are high quality, some of which are low quality. This doesn't concern me.
You can argue for days about the power of social, and how Google still uses backlinks to measure a sites authority, but the truth is, if you are trying to trick Google into thinking you have a popular site, you are going to get caught at one point. If your site is truly popular and you just want more social votes, you are playing with fire.
More Issues with URL Shotgun
Making $4 for 1000 clicks is not an attractive business idea for me. I do not want to hire people or invest in robots to click my links. I do not have a massive Twitter or Facebook following to click my spam links either, so this is simply not an option.
To distribute those amount of links, you are going to have to maintain multiple Twitter, Facebook, and other social media accounts. These places know about spam accounts, and they will shut you down. Plus, how will you build a following on each separate account? Soon enough your daily routine will not be writing content for your website, it will be maintaining a flock of twitter accounts and a harem of fake FB accounts.
The biggest joke of all was when Anthony Aries said that building your link profile with URL Shotgun, “looks completely natural in Google's eyes”. I have a hard time believing $47 piece of link-spam software can outsmart a multi-billion dollar company.
How Do I Build My Websites?
I write high quality content for my visitors. I search for low competition keywords regardless of traffic stats, and engage with people in my niche via social media, blog comments, and forums. It's a simple, but effective strategy.
Most products like this last just a few short months then disappear. That's the nature of hype in the business of making money online.
The only system I've seen last more than a decade is the same place where I learned how to start an online business. They've been around teaching newbies to make money online since 2006. You can join for free and start your first website in the next couple minutes
I teach you how to build websites and earn money from them just like I do in my 5 Day Email Course on Affiliate Marketing or you can view my review of the training center where I learned how to build my first online business.
