Being one of the older hosting companies on the scene, since 2001, they have grown to hundreds of thousands of accounts. The company has been bought (2007) out and now still operating under the iPower business name and sits under the the Endurance International Group’s (EIG) umbrella who owns more than 70 hosting companies. It's really hard to know if a host is actually good before you sign up. In general, I've found that you get what you pay for, but that's not always true. Knownhost is fairly priced and delivers incredible service.
However, I read the same stuff about Bluehost, but I have a hard time believing it because they are owned by the same company that manages Hostgator, and I have serious beef with them.
Right now I host some websites with Kinsta, which is an insanely good service, and some websites with Wealthy Affiliate, which is the affiliate training center I promote. If you're building an affiliate site, go with Wealthy Affiliate because you get training, hosting, and support in one monthly fee.
If you struggle with tech and don't want the affiliate training, Kinsta is great. You can brows the rest of the hosting reviews here, but many are based on research, not on personal experience.

Page.ly is hosting company that specializes in WordPress hosting, more specifically Managed WordPress hosting. Founded in 1997, Purehost is one of the older hosting companies out there, which is a little unusual, but not new news either because, in this industry mergers become the norm. If they’ve been in business for years and earning a profit, typically, they will be bought out. Purehost is a US based company located […]

[…]
I’ve known about A Small Orange (otherwise known as ASO) for a while now and they’ve been around since 2003, that’s 15 years of hosting and on the company website it does say they host tens of thousands of site. This is not a tiny hosting company and not a large one either. The site […]

Weebly is one of the most popular website builders out there. They are marketed towards pretty much anyone that wants to build a website, including personal bloggers, ecommerce store builders, and people that just want to build a website and figure out how to make money from it. Wix is a cloud-based shared hosting platform with a business model that takes a different approach to on-boarding new customers. Founded in 2006, the company started out as a flash based website editor and soon moved to HTML5 within the first few years. Fast forward to today and we see that Wix has grown their […]
A2 Hosting is one of the few truly ‘traditional’ web hosting companies out there today that has not tried to differentiate itself by specializing in some kind of niche. Instead of focusing on some small particular feature and aggressively making an attempt to dominate within that smaller market, A2 Hosting opts to offer pretty much […]
Rackspace is less of what we would usually think of as a web hosting company in the conventional sense, and more of a management service that provides you with a single unified interface for a plethora of different cloud hosting services. Plus, they offer their own nifty tech support to help you manage the solutions […]
