Selling on Etsy is a lucrative hustle for independent artists, designers, and individuals with a passion for their craft. Not only is Etsy well-known worldwide, but it also comes with all the tools you need to sell and market your handmade products online. But Etsy isn’t the only marketplace to consider selling on when launching […]
There was a lot of buzz around the launch of Prosociate 2.0 recently. I first heard of this plugin on an affiliate marketing forum and immediately identified it as an Amazon autoblogging plugin. I’m not a fan of “automatic” solutions, and equally not interested in “easy” ways to make money. Sound silly? I’ll tell you, I’ve worked my way from a complete newbie to a full time internet marketer of several years now and every single short cut I’ve ever tried to take has burned me.
Supadupa has some nice features that are great for online stores. Unfortunately they lack the basic features needed to market those stores. Without those features you’re almost certain to fail. Because of that, I have to recommend you stay away from Supadupa.
Squarespace is a popular website builder for those who want to create an online storefront. It offers some nice features. Unfortunately it also has several very serious problems with basic requirements like support, updates and bugs.
Fresh Store Builder is designed to build online storefronts for anyone who wants to promote Amazon products as an affiliate. It’s not something professionals would use, and given its price I can’t recommend it as a temporary solution.
Big Cartel is an online store builder designed for creative-types. It lacks some features but its purpose is to serve those with just a few basic needs. Artists, hobbyists, solo musicians and crafters might enjoy the solutions Big Cartel offers
Tictail provides a free solution to anyone looking to create an online storefront quickly, easily and for no money upfront. If you want to create a real business online, Tictail is not for you. It lacks everything you need to be successful and competitive online. But hey, it’s free!
Bigcommerce.com offers an enjoyable drag and drop interface, so you don’t need any coding skills. They provide new users with a ‘setup wizard’ that guides you easily through the entire process of getting your store online and running. When you consider all the apps and features Bigcommerce offers, it’s easy to see why they host more than 54,000 online stores.
Shopify is the most complete ecommerce store-builder I’ve seen so far. It’s unique features, design capabilities and community make it a great choice for first time users. However, Shopify comes at a hefty price with lots of additional charges. If you have physical products you need to sell online Shopify is one of the best solutions available but be prepared to break out your wallet.
Goodsie is a very average service. If you’re looking to build a storefront online then Goodsie offers competitive pricing but that price reflects what you’re getting. It’s design features are unique, but unintuitive. It lacks basic optimization which is important for any new website, but even more so for an online store. In short, Goodsie is…just, okay. But there are better options available.
