Product Name: Shoe-in Money System
Product Owner: Jeremy “Shoemoney” Schoemaker
Advertised Price: $47
Rating: 75/100 (but watch out for the call center)
What is it?
The Shoemoney System gives you access to a member’s area, an e-book and a few other courses on another site. The “system” provides you with information to help you make money using various online marketing tactics like affiliate marketing, e-bay arbitrage, adsense and even some local marketing.
My first look at The Shoemoney System was quite impressive. There’s a lot more information in the back end than I had anticipated. The member’s area is laid out nicely and it’s easy to follow, which is important for any beginner. The system comes with lots of extras and was more complete than I thought it would be. Anyone starting from scratch would definitely learn a few things.
Before you Buy
One thing you want to keep in mind with this product is that Jeremy is a seasoned marketer. He isn’t shy about using sleazy tactics to get subscribers. As a matter of fact he prides himself on it. And even though he doesn’t mention that on his sales page it’s obvious.
A quick look at the sales page will reveal a much different side of Jeremy than he portrays on his blog or in his speaking sessions. Jeremy knows how to make money online, there’s no doubt about that.
The things he can teach you will help you understand the world of internet marketing a little better. But they are ‘in-your-face’ tactics that will keep you hunting for new opportunities time and time again. That’s the way his system works, whether he tells you that or not. They system is designed with a ‘get in, get the cash and get out’ mentality.
What I liked:
One of the great things about the Shoemoney system is that it doesn’t limit you to one source of income. Jeremy provides you with several resources in the members area alone that will get you started on the road to cash.
The course is broken up into several modules and each one of them goes a little beyond the basics, which is refreshing for a product like this. In one instance Jeremy actually walks you through an independent, affiliate marketing case study.
The Shoemoney system isn’t limited to the member’s area though. With the system you get access to a few courses on Udemy.com that are mostly taught by Jeremy himself.
In spite of all the great beginner level training in The Shoemoney System, there’s still a lot that isn’t. Most, not all, but most of what Jeremy teaches, you could never follow without years of ‘hardcore marketing’ experience.
Throughout the entire course you are left on your own. There is no community, no forum, there’s not even a discussion tab or comments. This is a terrible setup for training new marketers and Jeremy should know better.
You might notice that Jeremy uses a lot of “old school” marketing tactics like banner ads, pretty ladies, celebrity photos and screenshots of bank statements and payouts. These are considered outdated tactics but actually work quite well with enough testing and traffic, which is exactly why Jeremy uses them.
Jeremy has access to years of data, exclusive paid traffic sources and expensive tools. Each and every word and image Jeremy uses on his sales page, as well as his blog has been tested and checked against every tool and piece of data he has. We're talking about things like heat mapping and outrageously expensive pay-per-click data from campaigns that were used for nothing more than testing.
These are the types of things no beginner-level marketer has access to.
Most of the training is in text, but they lead you to believe much of it will be videos. On top of that, some of the stuff is a bit dated. This is especially true for his course on adsense, which is where Jeremy got his career started.
In the end, Jeremy is a PPC marketer. Meaning he spends loads of money on a single advertising campaign. Much of what he teaches has very little to do with organic growth or free traffic strategies. To utilize the majority of his information you're going to need a large bankroll just to get started. Not ideal for someone who is just starting out.
This is the part where things get a little crazy. Right from the beginning, in Jeremy’s opening video to his course, he tries to get you to call his “support specialists”. The support specialists are nothing more than a thinly disguised attempt to get more of your money for coaching.
This is not a support center, it's a call center.
I imagine it’s something very similar to what you'd see in the movie “The Boiler Room”.
When you call in you get a “specialist” who is very good at avoiding your questions. They will continually ask what your budget is, how many credit cards you have at your disposal and things like that.
This is a high pressure attack on your wallet and it’s best to avoid it completely. As a side note, I actually think this call center is an affiliate program that Jeremy gets paid to send leads to. I don't think they have any ties to the Shoemoney system at all, other than paying him for the leads he sends them.
You might notice a disclaimer that says “we never sell your information to anyone”. Well that’s because they don't have to. Once you call that number you’ve voluntarily given it to them.
If I had to make a guess I'd say this whole system is designed to get a commission from this call center. It's not uncommon to see things like this from these ‘big time affiliates'. He could literally give away his entire course for free and still make several hundred dollars from so-called support center.
Here’s the deal:
The Shoemoney System provides lots of value. There’s no doubt about that. But it’s a bait and switch. It has a lot of good information but your success isn't even an afterthought for its creators. It's my opinion that their main goal is to make money selling you other stuff, not actually helping you get started in internet marketing.
If you want access to the information that the Shoemoney System offers, I can’t blame you. But why not get it in an environment that caters to your success.
