What Is It?
An ebook on how to resell book using Amazon’s FBA program.
Short, but to the point, this PDF covers the basics of what you need to know to start your own book reseller business. Really. He does a great job of covering everything, and best of all, it’s completely free, without any gimmicks to get it.
Update April 2017: The MOST POPULAR Amazon selling course is back for just two weeks. Amazing Selling Machine is available until April 28, so if you wanted to get it before but missed the deadline, now's your chance.
Before You Buy
I found Nathan Holumquist’s ebook Selling on Amazon’s FBA Program in a Google search, but you can get it from his website booktothefuture.com. I honestly wasn’t expecting much because all I had to do was sign up to his email list to get it, but to my surprise, I was able to instantly view the book and start reading.
It focuses specifically on buying used books then selling them on Amazon using the Fulfillment By Amazon Program. In a nutshell, here’s what’s covered:
- Advantages of FBA
- Costs of FBA
- Getting Started
- Listing items on Amazon
- Changing to Fulfillment By Amazon
- Printing Your Barcode for shipping
- Book Sourcing Techniques
That’s pretty much all you need to know, right? This business is all about buying books on the cheap, then reselling them for a profit, so it’s just a matter of learning where to get cheap books and how to use FBA to deliver them for you. Simple. The hard part is just implementing the steps!
What I Liked
Nathan is definitely still kicking around, and I saw a post from him on his blog as recent at May 28, 2015 (yesterday). This means you can probably get in contact with him via email, his blog, or his YouTube channel.
While he doesn’t explicitly promise support, I do see lots of comments on his website so this may be a method of getting some questions answered while you set up your business.
Unlike the world of internet marketing, the Amazon seller group of infoproduct creators seem to be pretty legit. As mentioned above, I just submitted my email, and was able to read the book. No “amazing 100% proven software to skyrocket me to riches” was promised, and I didn’t receive any dumb emails about a 16 year old that make $65,4321.98 in 24 hours. lol.
Other FBA programs are quite pricey, at least $100 and usually closer to $300. The only exception would be the monthly fee website called Adventures on The River ($14.95/month).
If you are a motivated person and an independent learner, you could basically start your Amazon book business for $0 using this ebook.
Simple Business Model
I guess this isn’t specific to the Selling on Amazon’s FBA Program ebook, but the idea of reselling books is pretty simple to understand. It’s just a matter of finding cheap books and making the effort to learn how to navigate FBA.
It won’t mean instant riches for you, but it sounds like a lot of the successful people that are now writing their own courses on FBA with a variety of products started out with books.
Shipping is much simpler since there isn’t much to the packing requirements except for proper labeling, and storage costs are much lower, sometimes just a few pennies a month.
Oh, speaking of which, Nathan talks about some interesting figures in his book in relation to sales rank (how fast a book sells) versus how much profit he can expect from a book.
What I Didn’t Like
Not Much Else To It
It’s just a 20 page (free) PDF, so there’s not much else to it. There’s no video tutorials, not much to say about selling anything else other than books, and no well defined support network.
I’m not complaining – I mean, it’s free…but it is a downside worth mentioning.
If you are interested in learning more about how to sell on FBA I recommend you check out the resources on the bottom of this, as all of those alternatives have better options for getting support while you build your business.
Some paid resources on booktothefuture.com are included in the PAC membership like “Buy Local Sell to the World” and “The Art of Traveling for Free”
Now that you have a taste of FBA, you should definitely check out the other courses I’ve reviewed. I haven’t officially ranked them yet because I’m doing a series of reviews on a bunch of different ones, but here’s the ones I’ve got so far.
- Jessica Larrew’s Amazon Bootcamp v2.0
- Jim Cockrums Proven Amazon Course
- ZeroFatz Adventures On The River
And there are more coming soon!
If you are interested in learning how I make money online, you can jump into my free email course. Personally, I hate the idea of shopping every day for deals and dealing with inventory. If no inventory sounds like a sweet business model to you, you can definitely take a look at my course to find out how I do it.
