I currently have a website with just over ten posts that looks presentable and I have been working at getting traffic to the page. My niche is one that I quite enjoy, so I am finding some aspects of building an affiliate marketing site quite easy, particularly writing and making backlinks.
A big focus of the last few lessons I’ve been doing is generating traffic. Honestly, I’m not sure whether I’m being effective at that or not, because my Google Analytics install tells me that no one has visited, but I have one comment, so something isn’t working somewhere. Also, I’m using a site that I built through Wealthy Affiliate itself, and although it is though a WordPress platform, there are some nuances that I haven’t quite figured out yet.
Still, I’m fairly sure I’ll figure out the kinks of my website as I go along, and I do feel like I’m getting somewhere, even if it is slowly. Given I’m only spending around five hours each week on the project, I’m pretty happy with my progress.
So, the point of learning affiliate marketing for me has been two-fold. First, I want to learn the processes so I can write better about them, but second, I want to actually make some profit off the site. I am certainly learning a lot, and I am excited about that. I think that I’ll probably continue to learn a lot throughout this process, regardless of anything else.
I haven’t actually made any profit from my website yet, and at this point, my website isn’t even set up to make profit. My immediate focus has been on getting the site up and running, and getting a body of articles on there, so people are actually interested in what I have to say. I’m not 100% happy with how my site looks, but it’s good enough for me to move on. Besides, knowing me, I’ll never actually be happy with it.
This post is titled ‘Onwards and Upwards’ because the next step of my training is profit making. I doubt this actually means I’ll make profit from the site tomorrow, but at least I’m finally up to setting up the site for this. I really don’t know what to expect from this aspect of the training, so wish me luck and hopefully I’ll do well.
