As an online marketer, I'm pretty confident in the ‘value' of my knowledge. And though I think that the information I have is extremely valuable, I actually wouldn't pay much for it.
The reason is that though there are many online entrepreneur certification courses available from a wide variety of websites, institutions, and companies, there is no set ‘standard' of education.
Plus, there is no guarantee that the information you receive will actually make you any money!
Let's look at 3 facts that may surprise you
1. Everyone Makes Money Differently
Setting everything under the one title of ‘Online Entrepreneur' implies that there is an established industry, or commonality between businesses based on the internet.
With the endless possibilities that the internet provides for us, it means that there are many successful business models (and some unsuccessful ones) to document. Some people start Amazon review sites, others get involved with affiliate marketing. Some do white-label product reselling, and some have actual physical products that they leverage the internet to market.
Whatever your business model, there is no single course that's going to show you the way to success.
2. There Are No Recognized Qualifications
There simply is no course out there that is actually recognized by companies, and having such qualifications is not going to give you any kind of clout on the interwebs.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of certification courses out there, but they're not going to be the kind where you can show up to a job interview and impress someone with.
It might be a nice footnote about what you do in your spare time, but they certainly won't qualify you to do anything, again, because there is no industry standard.
And if you are an individual looking to go into business for yourself, what do you do need ‘qualifications' for? Really, to start a business online you only need motivation, perseverance, and a willingness to fail a few times before you succeed.
3. Your Education Never Stops
Even if you enroll in an entrepreneur certification course for internet-based businesses, it's going to be incomplete.
How can I know this?
The internet never stops changing. Social media changes. Google's algorithm changes. SEO changes ranking metrics change along with video marketing, email marketing, and viral marketing strategies. You simply can't keep up with everything in a single course.
But How Much?
The truth of the matter is that most of the information you need to be successful in the world of online business is already out there, and completely free. Paying for a course means that you want someone to consolidate the information for you in a meaningful way. There's nothing wrong with that! Searching online for 10 hours is a lot more stressful than having the info spoon fed to you through video.
Unfortunately, with most courses, they keep the entire concept of how to make money behind a paywall, so you don't know what you're paying for. The price of courses run anywhere from completely free (there will be upsells within the course), up to $10,000+. Personally? I've found that most products worth looking at are less than $200. Anything over $1k and you better hope they have a rock solid money-back guarantee, and show you beforehand, what they plan on teaching.
No secret system is worth that much money! I do recommend one pretty expensive course but I do explain why it's worth that amount of money, and freely admit that it's not going to be for most people simply because of the price.
