What Is It?
Send traffic to a cookie-cutter website and get email signups. Chan then sends offers to these people and you make a cut.
This type of program has been done time and time again. The problem is always the same. There's no content on your website, so you cannot get traffic via search engines or Adsense (paid advertising). This basically means you will be spamming your website all over YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
Before You Buy
Patrick Chan, like his Malaysian buddy Ewen Chia, really needs to work on his presentation. If they are so rich, you'd think they could afford a proofreader.
At least Chan got a voiceover done for him for the sales video, but even then, it sounds like someone he hired on a shoestring budget.
However, the crucial thing you need to understand about the sales copy for CB Passive Income is that what Patrick Chan says is grossly exaggerated. If you are still of the thinking that there is a way to make money in your spare time, with little effort, no skill, and only a tiny investment, then the path ahead of you is going to be a very bumpy road.
Any internet marketer who has made money online has done so though hard work, sometimes without pay. Anyone that has “passive income”, has achieved it though countless hours of building and more than one failure along the way.
There is no such thing as a “done for you”, easy, turnkey business that will start making money this week. It's just not going to happen. But this is what Chan wants you to believe.
What I Liked
Sending offers and promotions to an email list is a legit way to make money. Unfortunately, the way CB Passive income is set up, you will only be spamming the poor folks that decide to opt in to your email list.
What I Didn't Like
As mentioned above, the hype is strong with this one. The main idea behind CB Passive Income is that it's passive, right? Chan and his team are supposed to do the work for you right? All you have to do is get traffic.
But how do you do that? Work.
Getting traffic is no easy task. I know this first hand. Your days will be spent trying to get traffic to your website, and without adequate training, it's just not going to happen. A share on Facebook or Instagram may lead to a temporary spike, depending on your number of friends and followers, but then we run into the next problem: Sales.
Now you have to convert these people to sales. Will they buy the first junk offer sent to them? Maybe. The second? Probably not. The third? No way. Then they unsubscribe. I mean, do you like being sent countless offers to your email inbox like this?
In a nutshell, making money with this system isn't as easy as it sounds.
Where Is Traffic Coming from?
So we get a free website – big deal. I can give you 2 free websites too. Granted, Chan does set them up as a squeeze page, which means it's ready to send visitors to right away and start collecting leads (email addresses). I'll credit him for that.
But there's no content on the website, so how do you plan to rank in Google, Bing, or Yahoo!? You won't. Simple as that. Alright then, how about PPC? Google won't allow single page squeeze pages any more. But Bing has lower standards, so you could use that. Oh, you don't know how to set up a PPC campaign in Bing? Hm, tough luck.
Maybe you could try social media. Do you know how to grow a following of people that are interested in “business opportunities” online? Probably not. Hey, I thought Chan said that we don't need any skills to use this product. In the end, you'll be left spamming friends and family on Twitter or Facebook, and probably receive a good amount of complaints.
Who Is Your Buyer?
Do you even know what kind of offers Patrick Chan will be sending the people you bring into CB Passive income? These are real people you are trying to convince to spend money. I'll bet you hate it when you receive spam offers of how to make a million bucks.
I roll my eyes constantly when I see things like, “Buy this super secret system that makes me $4,581.34 in 3 days!”. This is the kind of junk they'll be sending out. Buy rates are extremely low, and refund rates are extremely high.
Most of the time people that buy are uninformed newbies, who are either gullible enough to believe this stuff, or so confused that they buy something just to see what's at the end of the sales funnel. Is your ideal customer the one that doesn't understand what he/she is buying and immediately regrets it?
Association With Dubious Motivators
Maybe “scam artist” is a bit harsh – snake oil salesman? I don't really know too much about Bill Bartmann, but in the 5 minutes of research I did, I didn't like what I found. Yes his name and face are used on the sales page as if we are supposed to “trust” this product because a billionaire endorses it.
Sure, that sounds nice – heck, if a billionaire says you are doing something, right, then that has to be legit! But a quick search for Bartmann in Google turned up this Forbes article. Something tells me that that this particular endorsement cost a lot of money. Oh, and the endorsement isn't even for THIS product! It's for another book that Chan wrote. Tricky, huh?
CB Passive Income is not as easy as it sounds, it's not as passive as it sounds, and I think it's a terrible way to start making your first dollars online.
Gurus like this are a dime a dozen. Products like this are a penny for ten. If you are truly ready to start a legitimate online business, you need to set aside time to learn, and get some mentors you trust. Most of all, you need to consider what your customer truly wants or needs to buy.
