Company Name: Novae Life
Costs: Not Specified
What Is It?
Novae or Novae Life is all about life enhancement, in theory anyway. Basically, this is a wide-ranging MLM that offers products in the areas of finance, social interaction, mindset and physical health.
The compensation plan for Novae Life is fairly typical and similar to most other MLMs that you might see. However, the biggest issue with this company isn’t in the compensation plan but is related to the products. The products themselves are poorly described and seem extremely unappealing, which is a major issue for anyone wanting to make money from the company.
The idea of focusing on health and wellness has been done time and time again by direct marketing companies. I always find it an annoying choice. Sure, improving your health is a great thing but honestly, most of the products that companies offer rely heavily on hype and don’t really do that much.
Novae Life manages to be a little different than most because it seems to be focusing on improving health and lifestyle overall, from a financial, social, mental and physical perspective.
In theory, this sounds fantastic and suggests that the company should have a large range of products. But, their approach isn’t as simple as the marketing might suggest.
For one thing, the products aren’t really what you would expect. For example, under the physical section, there are just these two products.
I’m not even sure how tax deduction fits under physical health but I suppose the company simply couldn’t figure out where to put it. But, that’s not my main problem here. I’m concerned with the fact that neither of these are products. Instead, one is a platform and the other is an app. To make matters worse, the company doesn’t offer much information about what’s actually involved. For example, this is the blurb for Novae Fitness:
This says absolutely nothing about what you’re actually paying for. The only real information you get is that the platform involves exercise programs that you can access online, which was obvious anyway. There is no indication of what those programs are, how many there are or what quality you can expect.
That’s a problem.
To make matters worse, this pattern is the same for all of the products on the site. So, there is very little indication of what people actually purchase and even the overall concepts are fairly vague. Now, this might not be a problem if the prices of the products were reasonable but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In fact, the company doesn’t even sell the products individually. Instead, there are three main packages to choose from: Lifestyle Premium Pack, Lifestyle Plus and Lifestyle Pack. Talk about horrible names! The most basic version is this one here:
There are so many issues here that it’s hard to know where to start. For one thing, $99 per month? Ouch! I know some people could afford this but many more people couldn’t. That’s a high price to pay every single month, especially as you would probably lose access to the products as soon as you stopped paying. The pattern also means you could easily pay hundreds of dollars and never end up actually owning anything.
The pack itself basically involves a bunch of the different products from Novae Life. Honestly, that’s a terrible approach. Even if you were actually interested in some of those products, you probably wouldn’t be interested in all of them. So, you’d end up having to pay a monthly fee for some products that you want and others that you don’t.
In turn, that would make it hard to sell the packages. After all, most people wouldn’t like the idea of paying for a set of products when they only want some of them.
The next pack up is this one here:
The pattern here is the same, except that you get a few more things (remember, the site doesn’t really say what those individual services truly offer). This time, you pay the monthly fee but you also have to pay a one-time fee of $249.95. That one-time fee alone is pretty high, coupling it with the monthly fee as well is just awful. And, then there’s the last pack:
The pattern is identical here and the main difference is simply that the one-time fee is higher. You do also get a 6-pack of Sprayology, which means you at least get something physical. That particular product seems to be a homeopathic spray, which isn’t especially encouraging and is only likely to appeal to a fairly select audience.
In the end, you have a bunch of poorly defined products that might be good (but probably aren’t). You also need to pay a high monthly membership fee to access those products and you don’t really end up owning anything.
That’s not encouraging in the first place, especially not if you are trying to make money from the business.
The main reason that Novae Life can even get away with the products that it offers is the opportunity side of things. Realistically, relatively few people would be willing to pay money for the products alone, especially with how badly the company describes them. Instead, people that buy the products probably do so because they want to get involved in the opportunity.
This opportunity is pretty similar to what you would see from just about any other MLM out there. So, the general concept is that you promote the various packages from the company and earn money from sales that you make.
That particular concept is fine. After all, selling products from other people or companies is a good way to make money. However, in the case of Novae Life, you’re dealing with products that aren’t particularly appealing and that acts as a major disadvantage.
Selling the products is only part of the story. In fact, the process of making money through Novae Life is a lot more complicated than it first appears. This is because the company is an MLM, which stands for multi level marketing.
Under the MLM model, there is a strong emphasis on recruitment. Members (or Independent Business Owners, as Novae Life calls them) are responsible for trying to recruit others into the company, who then recruit others. In theory, you can earn commissions and bonuses from the people that you recruit and the way that they perform. The precise structure of these bonuses and teams varies from one MLM to the next.
In the case of Novae Life, one key aspect of the plan is ranks.
The idea here is that members progress up through ranks within the company. Each new rank offers more potential to earn money but also has more requirements. Because of this, the ranks get progressively harder as you go along. For example, here are a handful of the early ranks in the company:
One thing that you might notice is the idea of legs. This tends to refer to one branch of the team that is below you. So, if you recruited 3 people and each of them was successful in recruitment and sales, each of those would be considered a leg. For a leg to qualify, it would probably need to meet a specific amount of sales per month.
Even at these early levels, the requirements for going up the ranks are fairly difficult and they get progressively harder. For example, the rank called Triple Diamond Star Executive (what’s with those names?) needs an overall sales volume of 240,000 and 7 qualified legs.
Now, the company isn’t entirely clear about what the group volume is measured in but regardless, getting to the high levels of group volume would be tough. Honestly, getting decent sales and reaching the higher ranks is never easy and that process is so much more difficult with Novae Life because the products are just so unappealing.
There are various other bonuses that aren’t shown in the image above. However, most of these are tied into your rank or the success of your team. Theoretically, this means that it is possible to make money but if you want to get even close to a decent income, you’d have to rely on recruitment – an approach that I never recommend.
Regardless of the company, MLMs rely heavily on recruitment, forcing members to do the legwork for getting new people into the company. This approach places a huge amount of pressure on anyone trying to make money with Novae Life. Realistically, recruitment is never as easy as companies imply and even if you do successfully recruit people, getting them to perform well is a completely different story.
At the end of the day, what you’re doing is creating a business for yourself where you are entirely dependent on Novae Life and on the people in your team. That method is hardly sustainable and it means that your income could decrease or even disappear entirely based on factors entirely outside of your control.
MLM VS Affiliate Marketing
MLMs like Novae Life rely on complex models and bonuses. These make their potential sound much greater than it actually is and hide what’s actually involved in earning money. The thing is, you don’t need to be involved in a model like that.
Instead, you can develop your own business, one where you aren’t dependent on anybody but yourself. The most powerful way to do that is through affiliate marketing. This concept is one that I’ve talked about many times, simply because it works so well for so many people.
With affiliate marketing, you are still selling products from another company but you’re doing so in a digital manner, typically through your own website. There is also no recruitment to worry about and no complex commission plan. Instead, you end up with a business that you can grow and expand as time goes on.
As with any type of business, the main challenge with affiliate marketing is simply learning what to do. Thankfully, there are some amazing tools out there that can help. The one that I recommend most highly is a site called Wealthy Affiliate, which offers training to help you develop your own affiliate marketing site – on whatever topic you like!
Whatever type of product you decide to promote, it's VITAL that you generate leads to grow your business.
But let's face it, "parties" are boring, and no one likes the annoying Facebook friend who's always promoting a biz-op.
That's why I use this lead generation system. Learn how to generate leads outside of your circle of friends and family and discover what it means to truly own your own business, rather than just be a cheerleader for one network marketing company.
