Company Name: Horsepower Media Group LLC
Price: $300 – $20,000
What Is It?
This is another website phone call scam originating in Arizona. The idea is that you get a phone call offering an Amazing business opportunity.
They say that you can make somewhere between $3,000 and $10,000 per month with an online store. They’ll give you a great deal on a website, maybe $500 and you are guaranteed to make money!
The only thing you need to make money is TRAFFIC, and this is where the scam comes in.
The phone rep will tell you that more traffic = more money. Spend $1000 and you can earn $5,000. Spend $10,000 and you can earn $20,000 (or something like that).
Of course you have no way to measure the traffic, or know where it’s coming from. The sales never come in, and after a few complaints from you to their phone department, they stop answering your calls.
Proof That Horsepower Media Group Is A Scam
This type of scam comes under many names that I’ve reviewed in the past. It’s hard to tell if they are all owned by the same parent company, or just separate buttholes trying to steal your money.
One interesting thing is that a lot of them seem to originate in Arizona. This may be because of Arizona business laws which allow them to pay fewer taxes or something like that. It’s possible to live in one state, but start a business in another state quite easily.
This also makes it harder to find the owner if they really don’t want to be found. It also means that one person can start multiple companies quite easily, through LLC creation services which cost just a few hundred bucks and a phone call.
Anyway, in a short period of time Horsepower Media Group has racked up quite a few complaints from around the web. The story is all the same
They promised me guaranteed profit. Now they don’t take my phone calls.
Example Websites And Why They Will NEVER Make Money
As a person that actually builds websites and makes money online, I wanted to take a moment and point out a few specific reasons why the websites they give you will never make any money, no matter how much traffic they send you.
Here’s one example
You can see that it’s a very simple website, but there’s absolutely information on it.
Why you buy something online, you want to read about it right? You want to know if it’s good, bad, how much it costs, and how it compares to similar items!
With no information, buyers can’t make decisions on what to purchase.
In this next image, you can see that all of the ads are simply “banner ads” or little squares advertising other companies.
When you go shopping online, do you search for things like “buy clothes online” or “purchase food in California”? Nope!
Online shopper search for specific products, or information related to products!
They do searches like “Apple Watch versus Pebble” or “What’s the best anti aging eye cream for women”.
With general advertisements like the ones that Horsepower Media Group Offers, people will take one look at them and say, No Thanks, this is just an ad. I want to search for information in Google. They’ll leave, and never come back again.
ALSO, keep in mind that if someone is running adblock on their browser, they will not see any advertisements at all!
The last thing to keep in mind is that you have no idea where the traffic is coming from. Are they getting traffic from Facebook, Google or Bing? Probably not. If they actually do deliver traffic packages, it’s likely outsourced to “click farms” in developing countries like the Philippines or India.
Yes, people get paid $2 per hour to click on ads to scam companies can pretend to sell legitimate traffic packages. It’s a real bummer.
How To Get Your Money Back
It’s highly unlikely that Horsepower Media will give you your money back. It’s worth trying through. Give them a call and threaten to do a chargeback on your credit card.
If they don’t give your money back, follow through with the threat. Call your bank. Tell them you purchased a website business services online that were never delivered. Show them the complaints (if they request).
Not all banks will be able to help out, but it’s basically your only shot. The sooner the better. If it’s been 4-5 months, you may not have any luck. If it was last week, you might have a better chance.
As I mentioned above, I actually do build websites and earn money online.
NO, it’s not easy
NO, it’s not free
NO, it’s not guaranteed
But for anyone that’s willing to watch some training videos, follow some newbie-friendly step-by-step lessons, making money online is possible.
You’ll need to build your own site (with help), and you’ll need to find your own traffic sources (the training will show you how). I started my business 5 years ago, and I was working full time from home after just two years of learning and building.
The best part is that it costs only $11/year for the website. The training + hosting is $47/month, but you can test everything out for FREE, without even submitting a credit card. You can even chat LIVE to other members and see if they are enjoying the training or getting results!
