Harris Poll Online is one of many different survey sites offered online. The site doesn’t over promote itself or make outrageous claims, but the question remains, is it worth the effort?
I actually had a lot of trouble when it came to signing up for Harris Poll Online, which is something that I don’t often experience with survey sites. As with many companies, Harris Poll Online has an address verification process in place to help make sure the people they sign up are actually legitimate.
However, in an unusual approach, if you fail this validation for any reason (such as your house not showing up correctly in the database or mistyping the number) – you don’t get a second chance.
This issue actually stopped me entering the site entirely. That’s the first time I’ve seen a company be so strict about its name and postal address policy. The approach seems a little absurd, especially as many people wouldn’t want to give their real address until they knew whether the site was worth pursuing.
Is It A Scam?
It’s easy to call Harris Poll Online and other survey companies scams. After all, many of them make large promises about what they offer and fail to deliver.
Personally, I find survey sites to be time consuming, frustrating and they pay little compared to other ways of making money.
That doesn’t make them a scam though.
This is particularly true for Harris Poll Online. The company doesn’t actually make any claims about how much money you can make.
In general, survey sites can be a way to earn money – they just aren’t a very good way. They work best for people who are filling out surveys in their spare time and who aren’t too worried about time versus money.
For people in this position, earning a $20 Amazon certificate in a two month period may be a great. But for anyone wanting to make money online the time it takes to earn money simply isn’t worth it.
For example, surveys typically take anywhere from five minutes to half an hour and may pay the equivalent of $1 or $2 in points. You also spend time doing qualifying surveys and sometimes simply getting qualified can be a real exercise in patience.
An additional challenge is actually getting surveys. Some survey sites tend to have surveys available almost all the time. However, other sites don’t and sometimes you can be waiting days or weeks for a single new survey.
This makes it an entirely impractical approach if you were trying to earn money quickly.
The only real way around that issue is to sign up for a large number of survey sites. Doing that would give you more surveys, but you would be accumulating points on each of the sites separately, so it would take quite some time before you could cash out on any of them.
There are a lot of people online that love surveys. Sometimes this is because people don’t have the motivation to start their own business and sometimes it’s just because they actually enjoy filling out the surveys.
Whatever the reason, this means that there are a lot of people out there who look for the best survey sites and know which ones actually pay out and which ones don’t.
When it comes to reviewing surveys, I often turn to a site called Survey Police, which collates reviews from people who actually use survey sites. This can often give a good indication of how effective the survey site is and what issues it has.
Harris Poll Online actually scores pretty low on Survey Police, earning barely more than two stars across more than 100 different reviews.
While Harris Poll Online does have some positive reviews, most of those are at least a year or two old or are from people who only just started with the company. Most of the recent reviews tend to be more negative with some reviewers noting that the company has gone downhill.
Many of the issues that reviewers have are connected to technical problems on the site, while some other reviewers complain that the site doesn’t pay out when it claims to.
Making Money Online
Survey sites are never going to be an effective way of making money, they simply aren’t design that way. If you are looking at earning anything more than $20 here and there, then the best approach is to look for a dedicated way of earning money online.
This is something I talk about a lot on this site and I also have a beginner's email course where I teach you about how I make money just like I do by creating your own website and promoting products from other companies.
