Company Name: Surge 365
What Is It
A MLM company offering access to a travel site and discounts on travel.
Surge 365 holds back a lot of information about what it offers, forcing potential buyers to dig deep for information or rely on distributors. The company even offers very little information about the types of prices available in its service, even though it charges $349 for that service.
It seems likely that distributors would have a hard time finding anyone interested in actually purchasing, which makes the whole income opportunity rather unappealing.
Surge 365 is a little bit confusing as a MLM, because they don’t make it easy to find out about products or their opportunity. Instead, just about everything seems to go through distributors. Most of the information that the site offers is in the form of a video and that video is strongly focused on the opportunity, not on the products at all.
Part of this may be because the company is still relatively new (it was released just last year). However, it still isn’t encouraging.
Finding out any information at all from the site for the company really is a challenge. To start off with, unless you access the site through a distributor, you just get an introduction video, with no real indication of what you are supposed to do next.
When you go through the site of a distributor, the approach is a little better, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. In this case, you get a shorter video, and two options:
Choosing to join now takes you through the signing up process. This includes filling out your name, address and phone number and choosing your membership option (although there is only one option). On the other hand… Choosing the more info often just gives you a basic form to fill out and tells you that the distributor who owns the site will get back to you.
So, neither approach tells you a whole lot about what’s going on.
If you fill out your information on the join now part of the site, you do get some information on what the company is selling. Essentially it is a travel membership – which seems to be designed to save you money on travel.
However, the description of what is on offer is far from clear:
Not only is this membership expensive (close to $370 up front and $60 a month afterwards), but there is no indication of what the pricing for travel even is. So you end up paying to join a travel site that might or might not offer decent deals.
The fact that the site isn’t up front about what you are paying for should be a pretty big indication that they aren’t as good as the marketing suggests. Personally, I would at least want to know what kind of prices we are talking about before I sunk any money into the company.
As is often the case, there is a lot of typical distributor hype about the company online, like this one here.
Despite the hype though, most distributors don’t actually say anything helpful in their sales pitches. At the same time there are some actual reviews from people who have had bad experiences with the company.
It’s hard to know how good the service from the company truly is. Most of the reviews online are strongly focused on the opportunity, not on the service, and many distributors hype up what the company has to offer.
However, this type of service is something to be wary of. When it comes to travel, picking the wrong company can potentially result in a very bad experience. There are many companies out there that are reliable and upfront about their approaches and costs. It seems risky to choose a company that is just as focused on its opportunity as it is on your travel.
The company does really have a strong emphasis on just how wonderful its opportunity is. One really good example of this is the sales video, which talks about part-time income, full-time income and dream-time income.
Likewise, there are lots of images of the lifestyle that you can supposedly obtain through the company. Again, this is simply hype and it doesn’t say much at all about the potential to earn through the company.
With Surge 365, distributors earn money through getting other people to sign up. At the most basic level, a distributor earns $30 per successful membership sales. That is actually a really low level of commissions for this type of company, considering that the membership has a base price of $349.
Under the commission plan, most of the potential to make money really comes from recruiting other people. Much of this comes from bonuses and from the actions of the people who you recruit and the people under them.
For example, people at the Team Builder level earn $30 per sale along with a $20 bonus for that level. At the same time, they earn $20 per sale that anyone in their team makes. Being a team builder involves making three sales with 60 days of joining as a distributor (or associate, to use their terminology).
This is how the company breaks down the different bonuses, based on the levels within the company. Other bonuses also apply, based on the size of your team and the amount of sales made.
Commission schemes like this work well for companies like Surge 365. All of the payments and bonuses makes it seem like there is a lot of money that you can earn – and potentially, there is. However, the information completely ignores the challenge involved.
Making money through this type of approach involves two things. These are making sales and recruiting other people to be part of your team and make sales. The aim is to keep expanding the team under you, which in turn increases your bonuses and your commissions overall.
However, the tricky part is actually achieving this.
Surge 365 does claim to offer some training to help people be successful in their company, but once again, it doesn’t offer too much information about what this actually involves. Because of this, it’s pretty unclear whether the training would actually teach you everything you need to know.
Even if it does, you are still trying to convince people to invest in a company and a service that they probably hadn’t even heard of previously. That’s a pretty hard sell.
You are also limited in your audience. After all, both travel itself and the service you are promoting are on the expensive side. So, there aren’t going to be a lot of people who have the money to even try out what you are trying to sell.
Additionally, convincing people to buy something that they weren’t interested in before is an uphill battle. People are pretty set in their ways about what they like and what they don’t like, so you have to do a lot of work to change this mindset. That’s true if you are selling in person or online.
None of these factors make it impossible to be successful through the company – they just make it difficult.
There will always be some people that succeed, but it’s critical that you make sure you know what you are getting into before you try to be a distributor for the company. Otherwise, you will just come away disappointed.
Selling access to less expensive travel might seem like a great way to make money, but the difference between what you can potentially make and what you are probably going to make is high. While you might find a willing audience out there, you are more likely to find a lot of people who simply aren’t interested.
MLM VS Affiliate Marketing
With this type of company, you are trying to make money with a handicap. You’re going out there trying to push this service onto people and trying to convince them that it really is worth their money. It’s hard to change people’s minds like that – so why do it?
It doesn’t actually have to be that way.
An alternative approach is to make money by promoting products that people are already interested in buying. That’s actually the great thing about the approach called affiliate marketing. You get to choose the products that you promote and you can target products (or services) with a large number of interested buyers.
Not only does this give you an advantage for actually making money, but it means that you don’t have to hope a single company stays in business. Affiliate marketing is also easy to learn, regardless of what you do or don’t know about making money online. Best of all, most companies (at least the ones I recommend) teaching affiliate marketing are transparent about what you will be doing, how much it will cost, and even how to do it.
“Success” is rarely dependent on a secret business model or formula. Instead, successful people get there by working hard at something. What you work hard at depends on your own interests.
Whatever type of product you decide to promote, it's important to own your own website to grow your business.
Parties only work if you have a network of friends with money in their pockets. Network marketing only works if your friends are interested in joining business opportunities.
With a website you can reach the entire world, and only promote great products to people interested in what you have to say. Plus, you open up doors to multiple streams of revenue like affiliate sales, ad click revenue, paid advertising, and even selling your own digital products.
