For me, making money online started out as a hobby. I had a job, so I didn’t particularly need the money, but I found myself with more free time than I was happy with. My biggest criteria was to find ways of making money that were fun, and weren’t too stressful.
To be honest, I was surprised at just how many different options there are available for earning money online.
It is different for everybody, but for me, my favorite online hobby is blogging. I have my own blog that I work on regularly, and I also act as a guest blogger for other sites. One of the best parts about blogging for me is that it is very conversational in tone. This makes the writing easier, and I enjoy it.
In terms of making money from blogging, there are two main approaches. One is to get paid to guest blog. People won’t pay you to write on their blog at first, in fact, guest blogging for someone else is a privilege at first. Once you get a reputation as a writer, you will begin to have the option to blog for money, and you can sometimes find ads for this on freelancing sites.
The second approach is to run your own blog and build revenue from advertisements on the blog. Don’t leap right in with the advertisements though. The first step is to build an audience. To do this, you can look for topics that are likely to be popular or inspire thought. Once you have an audience to your blog, then you can look at commercializing the process.
Bear in mind that making money from blogging, it will take time. Expect to do a lot of blogs for free or very little money. If you enjoy blogging like I do, this probably won’t be a problem and over time your income level will improve.
If you are someone who loves using your camera, you can actually make money on the side selling photos online. There are multiple sites, like iStockphoto that allow you to sell photos online. They can be a little strict about the quality of your photo, but all the feedback is valuable to helping you improve your skills. It also makes the time you spend taking photos actually worthwhile, which is desirable in itself.
Promote Other Products
This is actually known as affiliate marketing or internet marketing, but all the term basically means is that you are providing a link between customers and products. This is often done through blogs or websites, and is easy to set up. In fact, being a self-employed internet marketer can help you to be financially independent.
All of these approaches are ways that you can have fun online while also earning a little money on the side. For many people, these approaches provide a way of making full-time income, allowing them to quit their job and work for themselves.
A good place to get started is the 5-day email course offered on this site. Not only is the course free, but it provides a lot of very valuable advice for starting to make money online.
