Product Name: Evolv Health
Upsells: Various products and promotional materials
Industry: Health & Wellness
What is it?
A MLM company that sells health & wellness products through distributors
Evolv Health is a pretty typical network marketing company that sells health products. However, actually earning money is a huge challenge because of the types of products you're promoting and the requirement to recruit in order to earn decent money. Evolv has spent a lot of time creating hype and misleading health claims, and as a distributor you have to support those statements. No Thank You!
Quick Note About Refunds
When it comes to companies like Evolv Health, it’s important to pay attention to the terms and conditions, particularly in relation to refunds. For example, the company offers refunds on products if they are returned within a specific amount of time. This can make buying product seem relatively risk free, but it is not the case.
Instead, any member still has to pay shipping and handling as well as the tax for the product. Furthermore, if the products have been opened the company doesn’t offer any refund at all.
A lot of folks chalk this up to the cost of doing business, and I would agree. However, I wanted to include this in my review, since Evolv doesn't make it clear.
What I Liked Evolv
The main thing I like about this company and companies like it is that they do have actual products, and some people do make money. For example, if you had a large network of people to recruit and/or sell to, then you might well be able to make money. This would be particularly true if many of those people were health-conscious and had good enough income to afford the products
If you don't have a large enough group of friends and family to market to though, you need to start website so you can start generating leads!
What I Didn’t Like About Evolv
Earning money shouldn’t be complicated. Yet the compensation plans of Evolv Health and companies like it really are confusing. In fact, they have five different videos on their website explaining different aspects of their compensation plan.
The concept is that all of the different aspects of the compensation plan add up to more profits for you, but it seems counterproductive. After all, if the company really was out to help its distributors, there would be much simpler ways of achieving it.
In my opinion, complicated compensation plans are a way that companies can make a business opportunity seem more attractive than it is. My focusing on how much money you can make, and not the actual steps you need to take to make it, people join with unrealistic expectations. You may even forget how much time and what costs are associated with achieving financial freedom through network marketing.
It's also important to remember that the real money in direct selling is always made from recruiting other people into the ‘earning opportunity’. People that focus on selling can make money too, but they are never the millionaire stories you hear about.
Evolv Health is a health-focused company, so the products that distributors produce are designed to promote the health of users. Understanding these products is important, because distributors for the company are supposed to be selling them.
There isn’t a huge product range, and the types of products that Evolv Health promotes includes coffee, water, gel and nutritional shakes. The products are promoted as being much better than their competitors. However, I have to seriously question the validity of what they offer when their advertising say stuff like this:
Evolv Fuel contains a cellular energy activator that works gently with your body’s own energy path-ways to give you a boost right where it all begins: at the cellular level.
That sounds just plain silly to me! Here's an image of the protein shake. It's supposed to be special because there's no added sweeteners and no soy protein, but there are many competitors on the market that offer the same options for a much lower price.
Speaking of prices, one distributor website offers a case of 16.9 oz bottled water for $65. That's almost $3 per bottle. I pay about 10 cents at Costco.
How healthy the products of Evolv Health are compared to their competitors is difficult to work out entirely. It is likely that there isn’t that much health difference – particularly as no scientific information is given and why these products are superior. Is the only difference the branding?
Even if there is a health benefit, most consumers aren’t going to be willing to shell out the extra money for products that claim to be better for health. Maybe some will, but for me, I need some kind of reason to spend more money when I could get it for cheaper. Helping out someone's biz op and helping them make money is not reason enough!
In general, people seem to get involved in the program because they believe that making sales is easy. Maybe a friend lost 5 lbs on it, or said that they feel better, so they think the products work. But as much as you might want Evolv to be a legit product and easy opportunity, it's not. Convincing someone lose weight or start using energy drinks is difficult, and pitching a business opportunity is even harder!
No Lead Generation Assistance
If you want to go beyond recruiting friends, family, and coworkers into your business opportunity, or are simply embarrassed to walk around town selling protein shakes and energy drinks, then you need to get online and start marketing to warm leads — people that actually care about what you are selling.
Without a website, how can you find people that want to lose weight? Do you go around saying, “Hey man, want to be more healthy and not so fat?”. Haha. No way! You need to find people that are interested in making healthy changes to their lives. In my opinion, Evolv does not properly prepare their representatives to get the online portion of their business up and running.
Some people will read this review and still want to join Evolv. Or some people will read my review and think I'm right about their silly product descriptions and the challenges you'll face as a independent distributor without an online portion to your business.
Whatever you decide to do, the ticket to getting your business rolling is getting it ONLINE. You need a website. Personally, I don't do MLM. I promote product and services from other companies, and get paid commissions. It's called affiliate marketing. The main point I want to make is that my entire business is on the internet, and I do not have to generate any offline leads.
You can repeat this process with any company, and any product, as long as you have your own website.
Whatever type of product you decide to promote, it's VITAL that you generate leads to grow your business.
But let's face it, "parties" are boring, and no one likes the annoying Facebook friend who's always promoting a biz-op.
That's why I use this lead generation system. Learn how to generate leads outside of your circle of friends and family and discover what it means to truly own your own business, rather than just be a cheerleader for one network marketing company.
