You’re probably here because you’re trying to figure out whether Survey Monster is a legitimate way of earning money online – and whether the site is even worth bothering with.
As the name suggests, Survey Monster is one of many sites that offers you the chance to earn money by doing surveys. The idea is certainly appealing, but survey sites have some major limitations. Additionally, if you are going to do online surveys, some sites are much better than others.
So, what about Survey Monster?
The homepage of the site itself is a big indication of issues. For example, they don’t bother to make sure all images work and there are minor grammatical errors (e.g. survey’s). That’s an indication that the company doesn’t take the site too seriously.
The first major problem is that Survey Monster doesn’t even offer surveys of its own. Instead, the site lists a range of different survey sites (a total of 48 at the time of writing). If you wanted to make money through Survey Monster you would have to do surveys through each of these sites individually.
There is no real link between Survey Monster and the sites listed. This means that you earn money on each of the sites independently. That’s actually a major issue.
The vast majority of survey sites require you to earn a certain amount before you can cash out, and often have only a limited number of surveys that you qualify for. So, for each site you sign up for, you would have to reach that cap, a process that is time consuming and involves some micromanagement.
Even just working through a single good survey site is a whole lot of work, taking a lot of time with relatively little reward. That would be so much worse if you were trying to manage multiple different sites at the same time.
Yet, Survey Monster seems to think that this is a good idea:
I would never recommend registering with 10-20 survey sites, regardless of how good they are. It is simply too much work and management.
Also, the more you ‘pick and choose’ desirable opportunities, the longer it would take you to actually get any money from sites. Survey sites tend to have the best opportunities when you sign up and after that it is often slim pickings.
Survey Monster is completely unrealistic about how much money you earn through surveys. The site estimates that you can earn hundreds or thousands of dollars each month and that each surveys earns you around $20.
I have reviewed a large number of survey sites and tried many of them out. It is very unusual to see a survey that pays as much as $20 and if you found one, it would take a lot longer than 10-12 minutes to do.
In fact, most surveys will earn around $1 if you are lucky and many will take more than ten minutes to complete. That’s not even counting the time involved in going through the pre-surveys or the cost of any offers on survey sites.
Earning money on surveys sites, whether it is a single site or multiple ones, takes a lot of time. Most often you would end up earning far less than minimum wage and there is always a risk that a site won’t pay what they claim to.
As a whole, the Survey Monster is nothing but misleading garbage.
All the site offers is a list of other sites along with a ranking and popularity rating of each of them. However, there isn’t even an indication of where these rankings come from.
If you really wanted to earn money through surveys (although I don’t recommend it), you would be better off doing background research and finding a single site that offers a lot of surveys and actually pays relatively well.
In honesty though, surveys are not a very good way of earning money online. You spend too much time micromanaging and trying to find the best surveys and offers out there.
This is why I promote an approach called affiliate marketing.
With affiliate marketing, you have control over your income and you don’t have to rely on other sites. Instead, you develop your own site to promote products and services from other companies, and earn commissions from the process.
Unlike surveys, it actually is possible to earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars in a month, and some people (like myself) have even turned the process into a full-time job. The best place to get started to make money like this is through a training site through Wealthy Affiliate. It is very newbie-friendly and actually makes realistic and honest claims about what you can earn.
