What is it?
Coloring Books for Adults is a forty-six page ebook that shows you how to create Coloring Books for Adults, which can then be sold through marketplaces like Barnes and Noble, Amazon or any other book retailer.
Coloring Books for Adults is a fairly simple, short ebook that teaches you how to break into a growing trend: Adult coloring books. I think Alessandro, the product’s creator does a great job of explaining what you need to know to get started without going into in-depth details that might bog you down. It’s a good guide and it can help you tap into a profitable new market.
Before You Buy
After you purchase this product you’re offered access to one of Alessandro’s other products. It’s a webinar series, which contains three webinars where you will learn more about adult coloring books.
This one will cost you an additional $97, and it looks like it covers many of the same things covered in the original product. At the bottom of the salespage there’s a list of topics:
- Where to find the best images
- How to create perfect mandalas
- How to prepare your book
- How to publish it on CreateSpace
Like I said, most of that stuff is covered in this product. I’m sure it’s a bit more in-depth, but $97 is a little steep for a few webinars.
What I Liked
Unlike many of the other products I review, this one, Coloring Books for Adults, is unique. I’ve looked around and I can honestly say that I don’t see any other info-products that discuss the same thing. But being the first of its kind doesn’t make it good.
What’s really worth noting about this product is that it’s teaching you to tap into a new trend. Adult coloring books is a new niche, which is something that doesn’t happen everyday. Like any new niche, early adopters are often the ones who see the most rewards.
As a frame of Reference, take a look at this trend line from Google Trends. It shows the interest over time, so you can see when the interest started and how quickly it has grown.
What I like most about this product is that it gives you everything you need to get started.
Despite this sounding like something that would be easy to create, it’s actually quite difficult. If you can draw, then maybe you could easily create a few patterns, but you’d still need to know how to create a printed version of your drawing and combine them into a book. Whether or not you know how to draw, Alessandro shows you everything you need to know to get started.
The first thing you’re going to need is the patterns that populate your coloring book. Now, there are a lot of options when it comes to this, one of them is to draw you own. But then of course there are others that Alessandro show you.
Inside the ebook they give you three options you can use to create your images and patterns. The best part is, they show you how to use them all. One option is free. It’s an online Mandala creator.
The other options aren’t free but Alessandro still shows you how to use them. He also shows you a few tips for using PhotoShop.
All these options allow you to essential create your own patterns from scratch, but Alessandro also gives you lots of resources you can use to find and download free (and royalty free) images from the web.
The discussion of image and pattern creation takes up well over half the ebook and for good reason. On top of showing you that it’s possible Alessandro also shows you how to actually do it.
Printing the Coloring Book
Probably the biggest problem someone would face trying to do something like create and sell adult coloring books would be the printing process. In the old days you would have to hire a printing press, which would be quite expensive.
A printing press would have a minimum “run” which might have left you holding hundreds or thousands of coloring books that you can’t sell. Now, with Print on Demand, we don’t have that problem.
The great thing about print on demand is you can literally order one copy of whatever it is you need printed and there are no problems and no minimum fees. The downside to Print on Demand is that it’s not all that easy. It’s a Do-it-Yourself solution to something that used to take an entire factory to do.
That’s another thing I liked about this product: Alessandro gives you some pretty easy to follow instructions.
There are a number of Print on Demand companies, but this ebook focuses on the most popular (and least expensive) one: CreateSpace.
Inside you will find step by step instructions showing you how to upload your images, patterns, the covers and everything else you need. This section alone is valuable and worth the cost of the whole product.
What I Didn't Like
Maybe the thing I disliked most about this product is that Alessandro doesn’t discuss anything to help you with your future in this niche His whole plan is to “keep creating coloring books”. That’s all fine and good for now, maybe, but this niche is growing quickly, a simple produce-more method is only going to get you so far.
I did the math: On Amazon alone there has been more than thirty Adult Coloring books added to their marketplace in less than twenty-four hours. That means there’s a lot of competition and they are all pumping out these coloring books as fast as possible. This always happens with every niche, so eventually you will need to stand out by offering interaction via social media, a website and email newsletter or something to that effect.
That’s where this product falls short. Well, actually it misses the mark completely because Alessandro doesn’t discuss this stuff at all.
Personally, if I were to enter into this niche, I would want more information about where to market my books, how to market on specific platforms, and how to reach potential customers. Could I do this on Clickbank or JVZoo? What about eBay? What strategies work best for each platform? How do I get ranked in Google for good search terms?
There's a lot more to a business than just creating a product!
Will The Trend Last?
I wrote this article about two weeks ago and saved it as a draft to be published later. Adult coloring books was all over my Facebook feed, and people were talking about it in the news. Now there seems to be no one talking about it.
Although this is definitely a unique niche and something that might be worth pursuing if it's an interest of yours, if you are just hoping to capitalize on the trend and cash out, you may have missed the boat.
There are plenty of ways to make money online, but I’ve always found affiliate marketing to be the easiest to understand, and the cheapest to get started in. An $11 domain is all you need to get started. You can learn how to do what I do here.
You could potentially make a website about adult coloring books, or even better, about relaxation therapy, or meditation (and include coloring as part of your website). Think big! If you want to build a long term online business, you need to provide room for yourself to grow over the next decade.
