For anyone that's learned about affiliate marketing, it's clear that there are boat loads of money to be made in this business. Internet purchases are made around the world, 24/7, and will only be growing in numbers in the coming years. But not all aspiring affiliate marketers have laptops or desktops and want to know if they can do affiliate marketing from an iPad or iPhone.
Affiliate Marketing from an iPad: My Suggestions
Yes, I believe this is possible. But we aren't talking about you with your iPad clicking a few buttons and posting a few links to your Facebook page. You are going to need to make sure that you have a proper setup for work.
- This is going to include:
- A keyboard
- A mouse
- A stable internet connection
- A comfortable place to sit
If you are just starting an affiliate marketing business or planning on going traveling and don't want to drag around a bulky laptop, that's fine. Do it from your iPad. But remember that you are going to have to spend quite a few hours per day looking at this thing.
Is working daily from a small screen worth the convenience a lighter load?
If you only own a tablet and nothing else, you might not have a choice.
If that's the case, the absolutely. Get the equipment listed above and prep yourself for working a couple hours every day from your iPad.
However, I find that I am much more comfortable sitting in my computer chair, at home, looking at an 18 inch laptop screen, or even better, and 20+ inch monitor screen. And being comfortable means you can work longer. Working longer means you get more done and make more money (usually).
Without a keyboard and mouse you will be forced to deal with the HUGE pain of using one finger to run your business.
Have you ever typed out a 600 word article on a touch-screen? Or tried to open 5 separate tabs to copy/paste links from one tab to another. It's such a pain in the butt on mobile technology!
Is an iPad Big Enough?
Just from personal experience, I know that size DOES matter. I have two laptops, one is 18 inch one is 16 inches. Those two inches make a huge difference to me, and I really notice that I get less done on a smaller screen.I can't wait for the day when I can buy a dual monitor setup with at last 23 inch monitors, or at least one of those giant Mac monitors.
Affiliate Marketing from an iPhone: Don't Do It
This just isn't going to happen. You can't type, you can't manage several windows conveniently, and you can't even read for extended periods of time without straining your eyes.
You also run the risk of (I know, it sounds funny) some kind of hand or wrist injury, or maybe even a back injury. We forget how unnatural it is to stare at a smartphone screen and type on a tiny screen is. I have an iPhone – I'm certainly not a power user and I can tell my hand and fingers are stressed or sore after an intense game of Angry Birds.
If you had hopes of starting up a profitable website from your phone, think again.
Save your money and buy a used laptop. You can get them for $200-$300 for an OK one maybe a couple years old. Even a Chromebook only costs $299
If you have a proper setup at home, my suggestion is to stick with that. If you don't have a choice, I think an iPad is an OK option if you are willing to essentially turn your tablet into a mini-laptop.
Affiliate marketing is the same whether it's on a tablet, laptop, or computer. The decision you will have to make is how comfortable you will be using which one, and how well you will be able to operate the device.
Now that you are ready to start you business, what's next?
You need training. My #1 recommended training center has written, video, and even live courses on how to build your first website and turn it into a profit generating machine. I'm still a member, and offer free personal support to all new members.
