Product Name: Big Pants CPA
Product Owner: Sam Mann & Jason Finley
Advertised Price: $17
What is it?
Big Pants CPA is a 37-page ebook that promises to show you how to earn lots of money by promoting specific offers from CPA (cost per action) networks like Peerfly. By focusing on CPA offers in the finance category only, Big Pants CPA says you will earn more than if you just promoted other offers.
There is nothing new here. Big Pants CPA is just another ebook put together for the sole purpose of attracting new marketers who don't know the difference between solid information and vague theories. The things mentioned in the ebook sound good. But in reality they are incredibly difficult, expensive and would take years to profit from.
Before You Buy
As you might expect, this product comes with a barrage of upsells. And each one of them will cost you at least as much as the original product.
There are three upsells, total.
Two Identical Upsells
One is a “Done For You System” that supposedly gives you a blueprint and direct access to all the tools, offers and other resources they used to build their business using this method. This upsell will cost you an additional $27!
The next upsell is an “Automated Roadmap” that gives you a guided plan through each step of the Big Pants CPA system. This upsell costs another $17.
Is it just me, or do those sound practically identical?
If you decline the first two upsells you're offered everything for $17. That's right, if you don't bite the first two times they are going to give it all to you for the price of one.
What I Liked
I'm happy to say there are a couple things I like about this product. I don't think these things make the product a product worth buying. But the things below do deserve to be mentioned.
No Affiliate Links in the PDF
This is one thing you don't see too often. Typically ebooks are riddled with affiliate links to outbound products. I'm convinced that most of the products I've reviewed that come with a PDF are created solely for the purpose of promoting those affiliate links inside the book.
That is not the case with Big Pants CPA.
Let me just say that I don't think there's anything wrong with product creators including affiliate links within their products. As long as the things they are linking to are valuable, and make sense to the original product. But many marketers go too far with it. I suspect Sam and Jason, decided not to include them because they wanted to prove they aren't just out to get your money. It doesn't really prove that, but it does look good on them for doing so.
Teaches you to Stick to One Niche
One important thing I learned early on while building my business was the importance of sticking to one niche. Your niche, if you don't already know, is your topic. It's what you choose to build your business, blog and website around. Think of it as a smaller segment of a given market.
For example, in Big Pants CPA, Sam and Jason tell you to only promote offers in the Finance category. But they advise you to pick a specific niche within that category. That's smart. And if you're going to build a business online, choosing — and sticking to — a specific niche is going to make things easier on you.
What I Didn't Like
The biggest problem I have with this product is how competitive it is to get started with. Big Pants CPA is marketed towards anyone looking to make money online. But you have to be a seasoned marketer with lots of experience to even think about jumping into this arena.
And if you were ready to do that Big Pants CPA is not going to teach you what you need to know.
Finance and CPA Together
You can read some of my other reviews on these individual topics: CPA and Finance. What you'll find is that both of these are incredibly competitive. And I don't recommend anyone jumping into them, especially if you're new to marketing online.
But combining the two of them is definitely out of the question. There is no way anyone who is just starting out online can jump into CPA marketing and promote financial offers successfully. At least not in the beginning.
You will need lots of experience and a large advertising budget.
These offers pay out hundreds of dollars. Other, more typical CPA offers might payout a buck or two.
For regular CPA offers the competition is quite fierce already. Imagine how tough it would be on an offer that pays $100 or more. Let's take a look at what it would cost you to drive traffic using Google's advertising platform, which, by the way is highly recommended in the Big Pants CPA ebook.
Here's a look at what Google suggests you pay for an ad in their search results for a finance related keyword. Remember, this amount is per click. Not all KWs are this expensive, but many are, especially with Adwords compared to Bing or Facebook.
That means each time someone clicks your ad you have to pay almost $12. And that's just a suggestion. To be competitive (in the top three results) you're likely to spend much more. Big Pants CPA? More like Big Pockets.
Since this product is made up, entirely of text you would think it would be much easier to read than it is. Unfortunately there is a lot of errors throughout this ebook. Usually I don't like to mention the writing as being something I didn't like. I don't think good writing makes a crappy product instantly better, and viceversa. But in this case I have to mention it because it was so bad that it was hard to follow.
I'm not talking about commas in the wrong place or anything like that. I'm talking truly undecipherable sentences. That, in my opinion is unreasonable. There are far too many options for product creators (and writers in general) to have their work edited and fixed cheaply, for this to be an issue.
If they can't take the time to edit their book, or at least proofread it, it's probably just another WSO product launch, soon to be forgotten, and replaced by the next sensational CPA offer.
This product seems to be nothing more than a method to get me onto an email list and market more junk to me. I have received several other offers for CPA products in the past week from Finley. If you're going to sell me something of yours, don't sell me another 6 figure system the next week brah.
Finance is a competitive and expensive niche to jump into with paid ads. CPA can be extremely complicated tracking conversions and budgeting properly. It's a great way to make money, but this guide simply doesn't give you the tools you need to properly tackle the niche.
There are plenty of ways to make money online, but I’ve always found affiliate marketing to be the easiest to understand, and the cheapest to get started in. An $11 domain is all you need to get started. You can learn how to do what I do here.
