Product Name: Ardyss
Product Owner: Ardyss International
Upsells: Various Power Packs
What is it?
A MLM company selling a range of nutrition, personal care and reshaping clothing products.
Ardyss is a MLM company with a complicated compensation plan where it can be very challenging to make money. Like most MLMs, distributors make money by recruiting others and by selling products, although most money comes from recruiting. Needless to say, both approaches have considerable competition and actually making money can be very difficult.
Before You Buy
If you heard about Ardyss from someone trying to recruit you, be a bit careful. Distributors earn money by recruiting others, so most will tend to be very optimistic (and unrealistic) about what you can earn, while making the risks seem as minimal as possible.
Making money through this type of business is hard and most people won’t be able to regardless of how hard they work or how much effort they put in.
What I Liked
I like the fact that it is theoretically possible to make money through Ardyss even though not all that many people do. If you have a lot of connections and are really good at cold selling, then you might be able to make this product work, but honestly, your skills would be better put to use elsewhere.
What I Didn’t Like
The internet marketing field is filled with scams and misleading advertising and this keeps people on their toes when it comes to buying something. However, when it comes to companies like Ardyss, people get caught off guard, because it doesn’t look or sound like a scam.
Everything about this type of business looks and feel legitimate, and honestly companies like Amway and Avon have made the business model so commonplace that nobody really questions it. However, this business type is nowhere near as good as it sounds.
Like many similar companies, Ardyss claims to offer an income opportunity to anyone who joins, providing them with the chance to make money through their own business. It’s an approach that sounds wonderful, but in practice has some serious limitations.
The concept behind this company is that individuals sign on as distributors, who then are able to make money by selling Ardyss’s products. This means that distributors act as advocates for the company and its products.
One thing I really don’t like about this company is that it really isn’t clear exactly how the business opportunity works. For example, the site lists it’s compensation plan as this:
This looks fine at face value, but there’s practically no information about what any of these different points mean and that makes them essentially useless. I eventually found information about their compensation plan through a Google search, but the information simply wasn’t anyway accessible on their website.
The full compensation plan for Ardyss is needlessly complicated and I think that most people acting as distributors would have trouble figuring out how much money they were even earning. For example, an early part of the compensation plan document spends more than a page listing out different definitions, like these here:
Earning money really shouldn’t be this complicated.
The biggest thing about earning money through Ardyss is that the company uses a MLM structure. This structure creates a strong emphasis on recruiting, and people end up earning money for their own sales as well as sales of people that they recruit, at least to an extent.
MLMs attract a lot of controversy, and there are some good reasons for this. In particular, the MLM structure means that the best way to make money is to recruit others. Because this applies to everyone who joins the company, you end up with people going out to recruit others to the income opportunity, before they have made any significant income themselves.
Is it a Good Approach?
Starting your own business, whether a physical business or an online one, is a wonderful thing and it offers a lot of advantages. However, opportunities like Ardyss don’t really let you do this.
The thing is, you don’t end up with your own business. Instead, you are directly working for Ardyss, and how much you earn is directly dependent on the compensation plan of the company and whether the company makes profit.
As income opportunity, this is actually pretty awful.
The most significant issue I have with Ardyss is that it is actually very difficult to make a full-time income from the company, or even a part-time one for that matter. Distributors end up trying to make money by recruiting others and by selling Ardyss’s products and both approaches have a lot of competition.
Aside from their branding, there really isn’t much difference between the products that Ardyss offers and things that you can buy from other companies. For example, this is the nutritional shake that the company sells:
This is actually a major issue, because it makes it very difficult to convince people to purchase the products. This means that you are competing against other people selling for Ardyss and every company that sells similar products (and many of these sell products at a lower price).
Realistically, there are much better ways to make money out there that don’t leave you dependent on any company and let you control the level of competition.
The approach that I personally recommend is affiliate marketing. This is a method that lets you pick and choose what companies you work for, and avoid relying on any of them. Most importantly, you get to try and sell products that people actually want to buy, rather than overpriced products that really aren’t that good.
With affiliate marketing you don’t have an upline or downline to worry about, and you certainly don’t have to try and understand a complicated compensation plan that really seems to make no sense whatsoever.
Very few people are successful in MLMs, and the vast majority of people who join end up spending more than they earn. A much more effective business venture is affiliate marketing, where you promote the products of companies you choose and aren’t subject to complicated compensation plans.
Whatever type of product you decide to promote, it's VITAL that you generate leads to grow your business.
But let's face it, "parties" are boring, and no one likes the annoying Facebook friend who's always promoting a biz-op.
That's why I use this lead generation system. Learn how to generate leads outside of your circle of friends and family and discover what it means to truly own your own business, rather than just be a cheerleader for one network marketing company.
