What Is It?
A plugin that automatically build Amazon-affiliated websites.
Your Amazon Associates account will NOT be approved if your website only consists of content copied from Amazon. Your site will NOT rank in search engines with duplicate content either.
So if AutoZON Builder is not saving me time or making me, what’s the point of recommending it?
Before You Buy
The whole premise behind building an automatic Amazon website is not new. I’ve reviewed several products like this before like Prosociate, and even written a post specifically about auto Amazon plugins.
It’s suggested in the advertising for AutoZON Builder that this will save me time and make me more money. I don’t believe either of these are true for a number of reasons (details below).
Why AutoZON Builder Is A Waste Of Money
Amazon Associates Account NOT Approved
If you are new to Amazon associates, you’ll need a website to show them when you apply for affiliation. If you show them a website with content that’s been copied from Amazon, they will not approve your account.
Even if you do sneak in the door, they continually update reviews of websites, especially new ones, and you might receive a letter like this one down the road:
Thank you for applying for the Associate program. Upon review, we are unable to accept your application. A part of our criteria is that your site has to be established with enough unique content. We rejected your application due to one or more of the following reasons.
– Lack of content which is original and beneficial to your visitors
– Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed websites containing mostly images, videos, or Flash animations will not be approved
So at the end of the day, you are still going to need to write original content for your website. What’s the point of grabbing stuff from Amazon when you won’t be able to use it?
No Search Engine Rankings
Also, by creating a website that has no original content, you can kiss your rankings goodbye. Why would Google index the exact same page copied to 5 different websites?
In some instances, for very, very specific keywords, you may be able to sneak in some low page 1 rankings. But building your business on a chance that Google screws up and gives you rankings you don’t deserve is not a smart plan.
Perhaps you decide that you want to just use the plugin to create a mini-store on your website – i.e. you want to have original blog posts, but have a small store that people can shop in.
Well, Amazon already has an APPROVED and ‘developed by Amazon’ solution for that called A-Store. It’s free, and you won’t have to worry about the developer updating the plugin to make it compatible with future WordPress updates.
A lot of times, product creators launch something like AutoZON Builder, let it run for a year or two, then move on to other things. If that’s the case, your business is screwed.
I ran into this with two different plugins before (not Amazon related), and it was a real pain in the butt to deal with. I can’t predict what will happen to AZB in the future, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Does It Really Make More Money?
Automatically propagating an Amazon store on your website with unoriginal content doesn’t help the consumer at all. Why would they visit YOUR website when they can get the exact same information somewhere else (at Amazon.com, duh).
You are not creating value by using this plugin. You are just looking for a fast solution that involves less work for you, and trying to skate in a few sales as quickly and easily as possible.
Does this sound like a legitimate business to you? Nope. Sounds more like someone that’s desperate for money but doesn’t have the drive to actually create a business. A harsh opinion, I guess, but think about it.
Personally, I’ve found that an Amazon website can make much more money by actually providing something for the reader. Here are some ideas to start with:
- Give an honest review of products in your niche
- Compare similar products
- Blog about updated features or new releases
- Aggregate reviews to see what enthusiasts are saying
- Break down complicated features for newbies
- Create tutorials and how-to guides
These are awesome ways to promote products from any company, including those from Amazon. They show the customer which products are appropriate for their needs and provide the most value for their money. THIS is how you create an affiliate business.
Starting an affiliate marketing website is not about how fast you can create as many websites as possible. You can make more money from one really good site than you can from 100 crappy sites.
BTW, when was the last time YOU saw one of these auto-generated sites on page 1?
Actually, I have a buddy of mine that got his site shut down by Amazon because he used the phrase “zon” in the domain name. I'm pretty sure that Amazon would not be happy with the name of this plugin. Why hasn't it been shut down? I'm sure it's just under the radar enough that they haven't done anything about it. I'm just guessing though.
If the whole “affiliate marketing” thing is still a bit confusing to you, I recommend you join a community of newbies and professionals who are trying build affiliate websites just like you. You’ll learn how to build a strong foundation to you business and generate traffic to your business before even trying to sell anything.
Most products like this last just a few short months then disappear. That's the nature of hype in the business of making money online.
The only system I've seen last more than a decade is the same place where I learned how to start an online business. They've been around teaching newbies to make money online since 2006. You can join for free and start your first website in the next couple minutes
There are thousands of other ways to make money from a website. Copy/Pasting Amazon products is not one of them…or at least not one of them that does very well.
What do you think? Would you enjoy browsing a site that was generated “as quickly as possible”, or a hand-crafted blog with original, interesting content on it?
