Are You An Affiliate Marketing Newbie?

January 12, 2014

Newbie Affiliate Marketer

No, you aren't. You know what affiliate marketing is, and you know the word “newbie”. You know how to search in Google for the answers you want. Believe it or not, you are miles ahead of a large chunk of folks that want to make money on the internet. Keep that in mind as you are reading this post and any lessons afterwards; you already have a head start and are going in the right direction.

Everyone Starts Off At Level Zero

I'm a full time marketer now, but I wasn't always this way. Take a look at this post I made on a forum in 2010. You can see that I was excited to just have my domain get found by Google, and a few weeks later, I was almost in tears (of joy) when I made my first $4.50. I just remember rubbing my eyes thinking, “Is this an error? Why is there money in my account?!” (click images below for full size)

WA Forum Newbie 2

Now it's 2014. I've been marketing for about three and a half years now, make enough to support myself, and I even bought a house recently. So, the question is, how did I do it, and how can I turn YOU from an affiliate marketing newbie into an affiliate marketing expert.

How To Turn From Newbie To Expert

OK, so “expert” isn't the word I should use. Most of us don't care if we are a pro or not, we are just looking to make some money. That's pretty much where I am at this point. There's a lot I don't know. Anyone who's asked me to fix any kind of code knows that there are definite limitations to what I know about building websites and marketing stuff on them. Want to talk to me about SEO and other ranking metrics? You wont' get very far either.

But I have something that works for me, and I'll continue to do it.

I learned how by TRIAL AND ERROR, which is the point I want to make.

You won't get anywhere with knowledge alone. You need to be taking action, and finding what works for you. There are so many ways to make money online, but you need to discover just one. I'm going to do my best to show you how I do it, and you are welcome to copy my techniques.

Black Hat VS White Hat Marketing

Let's make one thing clear:

You will NOT be creating a bunch of crappy pop up ads, trying to trick people into useless CPA offers

Things like “Win an iPad!” or “Date hot, young women!” type of advertising can make you money, but it's not what I teach or recommend. I absolutely hate that kind of stuff. Some people in the affiliate marketing arena thrive off of it. Sites like Black Hat World and Wicked Fire are full of people that can't wait to find the next magic bean that will take their annoying tool bar to the top of the charts of unsuspecting old-folk's computers.

That's not the type of affiliate marketing that I do. I don't know if it's considered black hat or not, but it's annoying as hell.

What I do is build websites in niche markets. I write information that people want to find in the search engines or at least info that people will find useful and interesting. I slowly build the website until it gets steady traffic, and then I start promoting related products and services.

These are ONLY things I think people will really want or benefit from, and they are things that are very relevant to whatever the visitor was searching for.

In fact, there's very little “marketing” to it. Most of my work is writing articles and matching products to what people are searching for in Google. Are you on board with that? Great!

What Training Do You Need

I'm just one guy, and I can't personally train everyone that comes across this page here. I don't do private mentorships. However, I can help you out in several ways.

First off, I can show you where I learned how to do what I do. I learned how to build websites that make me money every day at an online business training center that specializes in newbie training. This is a great place to learn because there are absolutely NO back-end upsells, no fake “one time offers” or high pressure sales, and you also get access to an awesome community of people that are learning with you (and willing to help out).

The training and support from this community are the #1 resource I attribute to teaching me to progress from complete newbie to full time affiliate marketer.

The other thing I can do for you is to give you access to my free email course. I want to make sure we are on the same page as far as WHAT you will be doing to make money on the internet. For some of you, the information in the course will be a bit basic, but for others, it will be a much needed look into HOW money is made on the internet. For everyone, it will definitely allow you to understand how my websites are built, what I do every day to keep them ranked in Google, and even things like how long it takes me to start profiting from my work.

Sign up for the course and you will be given free access to the online business training center I mentioned above, as well as be enrolled in my course.

Oh, and anyone enrolled in my email course will also be able to email me for 1-on-1 support with your website!

I'd love to hear from you. How much experience do you have, and what type of training are you looking for? Your comments will help me to craft this page so it can help as many people as possible.

If anyone tells you that the world of online marketing is saturated, they are WRONG. People buy stuff online, and there is enough money to go around. Let's work together and get you profitable!

I recommend you read this post about starting online marketing while retired to get an idea of some of the advantages and disadvantages you have as a retiree looking into online business. I’m sure you can’t get a program running because you are getting sucked into a lot of these scams. You say you have an “easy program” that “people are making money with”. It sounds like something I’d recommend people avoid if their support team won’t even help you set it up properly!

    Nathaniell:

I am totally a “technology immigrant”, but over the past 1 1/2 years, after attempting to start things happening, and spending money foolishly,. . . . your comments are refreshing and enlightening.

As a older man, who is a partial load instructor in architectural technology at a community college, my work days are limited and it is imperative that I seek out a income source that will carry me through my twilight years!

Your comment “Let’s work together and get you profitable!” is now my mandate . . I look forward to our association and success.

Some of my friends ask me how I can do this type of work, ie, don’t I find it risky to work for myself. But actually, I think I am the only one I can depend on. I think that with consistent effort you can learn anything you put your mind to. I know plenty of older people that have figured out this blogging thing, so you can too. I’m sure you’re no stranger to hard work, so put in a couple years now, and you can reap the benefits for decades!
