Why You Should Build an Online Business During Unemployment
You are now unemployed. You've got bills to pay and people depend on you. But do not waste this opportunity to take control of your life and start creating your own future rather than wait for someone to show you the way.
You know now that having an employer in control of your finances, your time, and a huge portion of your LIFE means that they can take that away at any time. In fact, a lot of people have found that out recently. Careers are no longer lifetime commitments you can count on.
Thinking Starting Your Own Business?
When you can't trust an employer to take care of you, you need to figure out a way to take care of yourself. One great way to do this is to start your own business.
But wait. You've never done it before. You don't have a lot of cash saved, and you have bills to pay. Starting your own business sounds great, but what if you fail? You'll be broke, unemployed, and to add insult to injury, a failure as well.
Be Smart About It
Your first thought might be to spend whatever you have on a last-ditch effort to pull a 180° and turn your life around; Get a loan and buy a franchise, invest in biz ops like MLM or cash gifting, or spend your savings on penny stocks.
All of these methods are high risk, high cost, and built on the idea that you can score big, and get a great deal somewhere in left field. This is not a smart way to overcome your current situation. Unemployment isn't the end of the world, but this is a time when you need to make smart, calculated moves, not wish upon a lucky star.
It Can Be Done
I used to be part of the workforce, and though I enjoyed my job, I knew that I couldn't count on my employer to take care of me. I wanted to take control
But I also knew absolutely nothing about business. I knew that you could make money on the internet, but I didn't know how. I didn't even know what the first step would be.
Fast forward 3 years later; I have my own online business, and I can teach you to build yours as well. I'm talking about a legitimate business entity, not some get-rich-quick internet scheme that you'll be embarrassed to talk about in front of your friends, or something that's going to get you in trouble with Google, YouTube, or the authorities.
Smart Steps To Get Started in Online Business
Here are the steps you need to do to get started. The key thing you need to use to your advantage is that now that you're unemployed, you've got a lot of time on your hands. Take some initiative, follow these steps, and and make a mental commitment to follow though.
The #1 reason people fail in anything is that they give up somewhere. The #2 reason for failure is loss of interest. #3 reason? Never getting started.
1. Analyze your current financial situation
You are going to have to pay for training. There's no way around this. How much you pay and what type of training you pay for is 100% in your control. But first see if you actually have some wiggle room in your finances.
Are you going to need money in the next couple weeks or months? Do you have a couple of kids to feed? How long can you stay unemployed before you have to start selling furniture on Craigslist?
Starting an online business is not NOT GUARANTEED to make you money. You could see profit in 1 or 2 months. You could see profit 6 months down the road. Plan accordingly. Do NOT take on more debt than you can handle.
2. Have Multiple Exit Strategies
Your goal is to stop being unemployed at this point. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Look for work while you are building your business. Explore other opportunities like freelance writing or part time employment while you look for a job. There are about 16 workable hours in a day, and you do not need to spend 16 hour per day building your business. Use your time wisely.
Read. Rewrite your resume. Apply for jobs. Watch videos on YouTube about how to improve your interview skills. There are lots of practical things you can do alongside the work that you'll be doing to build your first online business.
3. Read, Learn, Take Action
You can read about my success story, about online business, and about internet marketing. These are all things you need to understand if you are going to make a real commitment to becoming self employed. You do not have to be an expert, or trained in things like marketing, computer science, or web design. But you do have to be willing to read, follow instructions, and take action.
So many people ready my blog where I outline exactly how I got started, and still leave comments asking me what to do next? They say things like, “I have no money, no job, and need to make money fast”. If that's you, please read some realistic goals for making money on the internet.
4. Enroll in my FREE 5 Day Email Course
This is a great introduction to the world of online business. I'll help you figure out what online business is, what you'll be doing as a business owner, and lay out some steps you can take to get your first business off the ground.
What I do is called affiliate marketing, which means you'll be building websites, and writing content for them. The topic of the website is based on your personal interests. You sell real products to real people, from places like Amazon, Walmart, or other small businesses that have online stores. I love doing it, and I want to show you how it's done.
I will also introduce you to the step-by-step training program that I enrolled in back in 2010 that taught me things like
- how to build a website
- how to find products for the website
- how to get my site found in Google
- how to get people on my site
- how to make money from my website
